Life & Work with Jaida Deans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaida Deans.

Hi Jaida, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Jaida Deans, also known by my brand name Thejayelise. I am a 20-year-old social media influencer, Party promoter/Host, and full-time college student in Raleigh, North Carolina.

My journey all started in middle school, where I would post pictures on my Instagram and just simply be myself. At this time, Instagram was one of the most popular apps and people loved being in touch with people’s lifestyles! I had my own style and was always in the latest trends, so people liked keeping up with my lifestyle. Going into high school, I started gaining a bigger following when I got into Party promoting and hosting for teen parties in Raleigh, NC.

At this point in my life, I started gaining over 10k followers and started creating a lifestyle out of something I loved to do! As of right now, I’m getting more into modeling, hosting/promoting, and lastly creating a bigger platform on Instagram and TikTok!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I used to get bullied in elementary school. I used to be a tomboy and found boys were always picking on me. Going into middle school and high school I didn’t have many friends once I started taking social media seriously.

I was always scared people would be friends with me for the wrong reasons, so I had a very small friend group. Being an influencer isn’t always easy since you will always have people talking about you or trying to be connected for the wrong reasons (another word is “clout”).

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Social Media Influencer. With a following in Instagram: 26.2k followers (Model, Party Host/Promoter), and TikTok: 39.6k (content creator and also for fun).

I am most proud of my tik Tok because it is extremely hard to grow your audience and build a following. Once I started figuring out what people like and started being creative with my videos, I started going viral with some of my videos. I think TikTok has been one of my biggest accomplishments when I was eligible to become a creator and start getting paid for the
videos I do for fun!

I think what sets me apart from others is I’m my own person and can be really creative with what I put out for my followers. I’m always thinking of ways to be different and trying to set my own trends.  With me also being a full-time college student, I also feel like I take a lot of responsibility to still get an education, work a 9-5, and be a social media influencer, which a lot of people feel like is a lot, especially for my age.

Whatever I want to accomplish, I’ll do it for all needs.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice is to be true to yourself and you can literally do anything you set your mind to. Despite how much stuff you may have on your plate it’s always good to sit down and write out a plan/outline so you can execute it.

Something I knew when I was starting out learning my worth and don’t let people take advantage of my business. At times, I felt I was lowballing myself for opportunities and was being extremely too nice. A quote I always say is “Know your worth, then add tax”.
