Life & Work with Jessica Berrios of Raleigh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Berrios

Hi Jessica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I graduated from Paul Mitchell hair school and started my career at a small franchise called Fantastic Sams, similar to Great Clips. However, I quickly realized it wasn’t aligning with my goals, and I wanted more. So, I put myself out there on social media, and through that, I reconnected with someone from my past who knew I was searching for a new opportunity. She offered me a job at her salon in Raleigh, and without hesitation, I packed up my life in Fayetteville and made the move.

I worked at that salon for three solid years, gaining experience and refining my skills. In 2017, I decided to take a leap and open my own salon, focusing on becoming a balayage specialist for all hair textures and custom colors. Since then, I’ve been building my brand, growing my expertise, and running my salon independently.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. There was so much I had to learn about running a business as an independent salon suite owner. When everything shut down in 2020, I took that as an opportunity to revamp, refocus, and better myself as a stylist and entrepreneur. Since then, I’ve been striving and thriving. Of course, there have been bumps along the way, but those challenges have been valuable learning experiences that have helped me grow in my business.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in custom colors, but my true passion is balayage—lived-in color that works beautifully on all hair textures. I take pride in having a diverse clientele and love the scientific side of hair. Helping both men and women achieve their hair goals while guiding them on their journey to healthier hair is what truly fulfills me.
