Life & Work with John Gibbs of North Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Gibbs.

Hi John, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Approximately 10 years ago, I picked up my first drone to take on a cruise. I immediately fell in love with aerial photography and knew that there would be a great business model for drones.
I initially purchased into a franchise named The Drone Co.
They helped me with the training I needed to take off and slowly build the business. Eventually, I left The Drone Co. And rebranded into The Raleigh Drone Company. I was able to make it a seamless transition and did not lose any market share or website searches.

I have had a lot of customer service experience through the years and I brought that with me to The Raleigh Drone Company. I have now been in business for over 10 years and the many returning customers keep this company rolling.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not always been smooth. When I first started the company it was all about learning the craft of flying drones and more importantly, the photography aspect of it. Those two points came fairly easy to me. I always loved Photography in the technology of drones blew me away. Then it was all about finding the customers to get me off the ground.
I wouldn’t say struggles, but the fun part is always looking for the customers. The challenges are providing exactly what they need.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a drone operator/photographer in the Raleigh North Carolina area. I specialize in aerial photography for real estate agents, commercial properties, and construction sites. Right now, most of my specialties lie In taking progress photos for construction sites. I began my business 10 years ago, which is probably something I’m most proud of. The business Is constantly changing, and I need to continue to change with it. I believe that’s one of the things that sets me apart. My customer service is also something that I would say sets me apart from competition.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I would say I was very shy and reserved. My first job was a waiter in a restaurant, and I believe that helped bring out my personality. Wow, I went to college. I took a photography course and became very interested in that medium. Little did I know 30 years later I would start my own photography business.
