Life & Work with Kayla Tutt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Tutt.

Hi Kayla, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself. 
I started photography in high school but recently picked the camera back up! I value the candid moments!!! I crave the true smiles and laughter! I had my daughter 10 months ago and immediately had so many ideas for photoshoots! She definitely is my inspiration to do everything I can to bring smiles to others’ faces, and in the short time that I have picked the camera back up, I have met so many amazing families and individuals. I have a lot of exciting news coming up, and I can’t want to continue to grow as a photographer but also expand in my services! 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It isn’t easy to succeed within the Raleigh market, as there are so many photographers in the area. I also work full-time at a local Level 1 trauma center in Radiology, so photography for is a joyous and fun thing to do on my off-time. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in candid moments and story photography. Although I love the milestone sessions is all about a day in the life of the family, couple, or individual! My goal is to capture the personality and feelings through the lens. I don’t mind looking like a fool during the session to get those genuine smiles and laughs… I have lots of fun prompts to create emotion during our session. I am your biggest hype woman! I have done sessions such as best friends, lifestyle newborn, birthday parties, boudoir, maternity, couples, and engagement sessions, and soon birth and weddings! The biggest thing that sets me apart front others is that I don’t limit the number of photos in a session. I am very trigger happy for it’s almost impossible for me to chose only 15 images in a 30-minute session. I love to overshare and believe that if you pay for a session, I owe the client all the best images during the entire session! 

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband is my biggest support system; he is not a huge fan of being in front of the camera but is always willing to be my model to help with learning my equipment and growing more comfortable with my camera. I also owe recognition to all the people who have modeled to help me grow my portfolio and showing me how much fun photoshoots are! I have met so many incredible families who continue to reach out for the next fun idea and future sessions I have planned!
