Today we’d like to introduce you to Leanne And Adam Gilbert
Leanne and Adam, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Adam’s journey in the wedding industry began in 2011 when he co-founded Blueberry Creative with his best friend, originally offering both photography and film. Over time, he refined his focus, dedicating his craft exclusively to wedding filmmaking.
I, Leanne, began my career as a wedding photographer, working as an associate. Our two companies briefly shared an office space which is where Adam and I met. In 2016 I launched my own portrait studio, specializing in maternity, newborn, and family photography.
Adam and I married on a grassy cliff in Costa Rica in 2018 with 30 of our best people. We love a big party but personally are huge proponents of intimate destination weddings.
By the end of 2020, we were both at a crossroads. Adam’s business partner moved out of state, marking the close of Blueberry Creative, while I was wrapping up my portrait business. Throughout the years, we had collaborated often, I second shot for Adam, Adam assisting me. We realized quickly that we complemented the other’s strengths in a way that felt effortless.
It was only natural to take the next step together. Adam Gilbert Films was launched – a seamless evolution, honoring Adam’s established reputation in the industry while embracing a shared vision for refined, artful wedding filmmaking.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Our journey has been a remarkably smooth one. From the very beginning, we were intentional about building a strong foundation, not just in business, but in our partnership. One non-negotiable? Couple’s therapy. For us, it was never about conflict resolution but rather staying in step with one another, ensuring that even when we saw things differently, we remained aligned. This commitment has been invaluable, shaping both our business and our relationship in the most meaningful way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We have had the privilege of documenting life’s most extraordinary moments. At our core we are storytellers who find beauty in the journey, wherever it may lead. From the moss-draped oaks of the southeastern coast to the bamboo forests of Thailand, our work (and passion for travel) has taken us across the world, yet our focus remains the same: crafting films that are as timeless as the love they capture.
With a deep appreciation for collaboration and an unwavering attention to detail, we form meaningful connections with our couples and their creative teams. Outgoing and intentional, we are driven to create films that not only reflect the beauty of our couples but also honor the vision of the talented partners who bring each celebration to life.
As seasoned filmmakers, we bring an editorial eye to storytelling, seamlessly weaving together the grandeur of the event with the heartfelt authenticity of the celebration itself. Our work has been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, Vogue, BRIDES, and more, a testament to our commitment to artistry and excellence.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The next five to ten years will bring a remarkable evolution to our industry. Gosh, where do we even begin? AI is reshaping nearly every facet of our lives, and as creatives, we can all feel its presence. While advancements in editing, “smart” camera technology, and automation will undoubtedly change aspects of filmmaking, we believe (hope) that wedding films will remain irreplaceable. These moments are singular, deeply personal, and ultimately human.
Across the industry, planners, designers, and florists are already leveraging AI to craft innovative experiences, while photographers use it to streamline editing and accelerate turnaround times. Filmmakers, too, have adapted—creating both fast-paced social reels along with the timeless, narrative-driven films tailored to each couple. As with any technological shift, some roles will fade while new ones emerge.
Nowhere is this evolution more evident than in the world of wedding filmmaking. Once, the idea of documenting a wedding with an iPhone was laughable; today, content creation is a recognized part of the experience. Couples, particularly Gen Z, gravitate toward a more candid, unpolished aesthetic, seeking something that feels real, immediate, and true to them. With marriage rates shifting and celebrations evolving, the wedding industry will continue to transform.
The best thing we can do? Embrace the change. Weddings aren’t going to disappear. Love, commitment, and the desire to celebrate will always remain. The way we document these moments may evolve, but at its core, our purpose remains the same: to tell a story worth remembering.
