Life & Work with Lydia Saint George of North Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lydia Saint George.

Hi Lydia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I was 5, my mom traded an old vanity table for a Yamaha PSR-530. I took a few lessons but ultimately ended up teaching myself piano, then later guitar. I did not grow up surrounded by people who were musical- but my parents raised me on a lot of good music (Shania Twain, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, O Brother Where Art Thou Soundtrack)

I spent time dabbling in whatever instruments i could find, and singing all the time but I treated it like my “secret talent.” I don’t even think my parents knew I could sing. When I was 14 I decided I wanted to start writing songs. By the next year I had a full notebook and started recording demos on my own and in a friend’s studio. At 17 I started playing local open mics and eventually getting small gigs. I met my producer Dan and we collaborated on my first single “cerulean skies” released in December of 2024. I taught myself to produce music and put out two EP’s in 2025. In July, I headlined, (and sold out) Uncommon Ground in Chicago. Early 2026, I signed deal with Goldship Records. In March 2026 I opened for Lacey Sturm and Kat Von D in Pittsburgh PA.

Now I am hard at work finishing my first full length record, and I can’t wait to share it with you guys.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey hasn’t been exactly smooth but it’s been very fruitful. A lot of what I’ve had to do is try over and over again. Doing the same things that feel monotonous in hopes that they eventually pan out. Sometimes I struggle with imposter syndrome. I have to remind myself that I am deserving of the good things that happen and my work is paying off. Also stage fright before a big show.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a singer, songwriter, producer, and performing artist. I love collaborating with other producers but I’ve grown to really enjoy producing my own work too. I get to feel very uniquely connected to it in a way, and experience it throughout all stages.

I’m most proud of my album, which is planned to be released later this year. These songs are very special to me, and a lot of them have been in my mind for a long time.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Buying merchandise and coming out to shows is a great way to support! And finding me on social media and listening on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. My new merch features a hand drawn moth design.
