Life & Work with Sergio Lopez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sergio Lopez.

Hi Sergio, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Hi, my name is Sergio and I am a portrait photographer based in Raleigh, NC. My artistic journey started when I was a little boy growing up in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Growing up, I would always be drawing something of some sort. I would use my creative mind to picture what was art in my eyes. One day in middle school art class, my teacher told me that I wasn’t complete with my artwork and I told her I was.

I was upset that she did not let me do my art the way I wanted to. I left her class and never returned. The summer entering my first year in high school I picked up a camera and decided to go digital. I started taking photos of anything and everything. I then become a little good and started taking portraits of people. A few years later, I asked a well-known photographer in town to be my mentor and fortunately, he said yes.

After high school, he asked me to join his company as a part-time photographer assistant and quickly picked up some skills. He taught me lots of things but what art doesn’t teach others, is how to create their art. I was his assistant for a few years until years later I picked up photography again back in 2019. I launched my brand called STUDIOS LA and the rest is history.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, business is never a smooth road. I had to challenge and teach myself about branding, marketing, and social media. I wanted to get my business known in Goldsboro first and then transitioned back to Raleigh. It was definitely a tough road but it is well worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in social media branding, e-commerce, website building, and photography. I am most proud of the websites I have created and I love all of them.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was shy and kept my ideas in my head.
