Life & Work with Tally Bandz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tally Bandz.

Hi Tally, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hey, ya’ll! It’s ya girl Tally Bandz AKA The Queen of Baddie Music, and I’m from Richmond, VA born and raised. I’m a fashion model, actress, and artist. And I honestly feel, I’ve been being prepared my whole life to be an artist. When I was only 4-years-old I knew I wanted to be a supermodel. Music and acting had never crossed my mind.

When I turned 13, I tried to submit myself to various agencies and faced countless rejections due to being too short, and not having the required characteristics to be a model. I never gave up though, and I kept following my dream of modeling by building my own portfolio and posting my work on social media. This built my fanbase on Instagram to over 130K followers, and I gained so many opportunities from Instagram alone. I booked a gig in New York to model for Chris Brown’s clothing brand Black Pyramid through Instagram. After the shoot the pictures were so fire, Chris Brown reposted one of them to his Instagram page. That gained me 10,000 followers in a day.

I’ve since been published in multiple magazine publications and walked for DC, NY, and Miami Fashion Weeks. I then started acting and that took off as well, and I’ve been in numerous indie and feature films. I’ve even starred in a film called Tisiphone that is on Amazon Prime. Also while pursuing my modeling and acting career, I was a professional indoor pro-football cheerleader where I performed in front of thousands in huge stadiums.

I feel like all of this prepared me to be the artist I am today. I never wanted to be a rapper. It never even crossed my mind, but I’ve always wanted to be a performer/entertainer. One day I had the opportunity to go to the studio and I made my first song. It all came so easy to me, and I fell in love with the whole process of being an artist and creating music. Opportunities started just falling into my lap when it came to my music, and that’s how I knew this was my calling.

I created my alter ego Tally Bandz in the studio in 2017 and I haven’t looked back since. I went full time as an artist in March of last year and within that year, I’ve traveled all over the US on tour and opened up for some big artists and Hip Hop legends. I’ve received nothing but great and positive feedback on my music. And people tell me I inspire them every day, It’s the best feeling too when women message me to tell me how confident my music makes them feel.

I’m dropping my mixtape next month and going on tour, and I’m just super excited to see what the future holds for me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Music has definitely been a smoother road for me. The only obstacles I’ve faced so far are finding the right team and management.

I’ve gone through 3 different managers already and I just started taking music seriously back in March 2021. As of right now though, I feel like I have a pretty solid team.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an artist, fashion model, and actress. I make music to empower women and make them feel confident. I believe that self-love is so important, and a woman or anybody in general honestly must love themselves if they want to have a good life. It all begins and ends with love.

There are also so many women who are victims of physical and mental abuse from the men they are dating. I want these women to know that they are strong and they don’t have to put up with shit from anyone. You should be treated like a queen and loved for who you are. As a victim of emotional abuse and trauma myself, I know how hard it can be to be strong and to love yourself.

And that is why I do what I do. My goal is for my music to reach and help as many women as possible. And men too if it resonates (lol). And I feel like my unique voice sets me apart from other artists. No one sounds like Tally Bandz.

I call myself the Littest Rapper for a reason, and you will know why if you come to one of my shows or listen to my music.
