Hi Tongwa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi, my name is Kamikaze aka Lord Kama, and I am a local Afrobeats artist living in Raleigh, NC. Born and raised in Buea, Cameroon, I moved to Prince Georges County, MD at the age of 13. Graduated from Towson University in 2022 with a Bachelors in Computer Science and got a job short after as a Software Engineer which brought me to Raleigh NC. Raleigh provided quiet and focus I needed to grow both in my professional career and passion for music.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This is the only city I’ve lived in outside of MD since migrating to the US in 2010. The loneliness forced me to spend more time on my songwriting and recording. The city is filled with amazing talent and spaces to help curate and further your craft regardless of niche, which is a great plus.

I work as an Android mobile applications developer by day and an upcoming Afrobeats singer/songwriter by night. One of my greatest achievements as an artist to-date is the release of my first ever EP – Sweet Seddiction – which came out on May 1st, 2025. We are all unique in our own way and I believe my ability to deliver heart felt melodies with memorable cadences is one listeners enjoy.

My happy places:
Family, music, soccer, and dancing.
