Life & Work with T’zai Rivera-lopez of Fayetteville Nc

Today we’d like to introduce you to T’zai Rivera-lopez

Hi T’zai, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My Name is T’zai Rivera-Lopez, my Business Name is NailsbyV.T. I first got into nails at the end of 2019 before COVID lockdown happened. My mother (Chantaeyloraey Rivera-Shoulars) went to a store and came back with acrylic powder and monomer. She said “Hey, I need you to learn this skill! You’re so creative and I know you’ll be super good at nails.” I responded “Okay I’ll give it a try.” I went in my room and started immediately working on application, shaping, etc; trying to get a hang of this new trade I was interesting in. So I practiced and practiced until I soon got a hang of it. After I had to come up with a name to call myself. I was thinking about something that is unique and different but also describes my style and the first thing that popped in my head was Vintage. Once I started thinking more and more about the name I started to love it. I came up with NailsByV.T. The “T” stands for my first name “T’zai”. So after the name I than continued to work my regular normal job until I was comfortable enough to step away and take my career seriously because I have sooo much skill in acrylics and nail art. So I left my job to go into nail school ClawsbyVee Nail Academy and it changed my life and my career. I would’ve never thought I would be a licensed Male nail Tech. And now I am located right in Fayetteville, Nc at LaRosée Nail Bar 916 Brighton Rd with the best techs that give home based quality but salon speed. Salon name is “Lopez”.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It wasn’t always a smooth road. I was working at Champs Sport for Footlocker Inc. I was an Assistant Manager for 4 almost 5 years. I had no time to do nails. They wouldn’t allow me to continue working because of a conflict of scheduling. So they had me choose either my nail career or my career with Footlocker Inc. I ended up choosing my nail career. I don’t regret taking a step of faith and trusting god with my decision.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
All my work is Acrylic based. I specialize in structure with acrylic and hand drawn nail art. Normally you go to a tech and they slap on the acrylic and send you on your way; With me I don’t do that. It has to have structure and has to be able to last. All my sets last 4-6 weeks. I’m mostly known for trendy designs and abstract nail art. I love a challenge and I love learning and exploring different ways to do art. I’m mostly proud of my skill. I always think I’m not able to do something but with god on my side, anything is possible if you put your mind to it. It sets me apart from others, I won’t give up until I have it right. Keep pushing and keep a motivational attitude and soon you’ll get it.

What’s next?
In the future I plan on opening my very own salon. I love bringing women and men to a salon that is luxurious but also gives you the space and break everyone needs. Rather if it’s from the kids, family, house, work, whatever it is. I love providing that comfort place to get you relaxed and happy
