Meet Amanda Reed

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Reed.

Hi Amanda, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today. 
We started Mira Claire Boutique in May of 2017. The business was originally created to provide unique children’s boutique clothing at a reasonable price. I loved dressing our daughter in boutique clothing but hated spending the money. From then on, we have tried several different approaches to our business. We found that focusing on a character/fairytale aspect worked the best for our customer base and what we enjoyed designing and selling. We are very fortunate to be connected with Reserving Royalty. Being a part of Reserving Royalty’s events really helped us to focus on what we really wanted to do. We also have started making dance and ice-skating costumes, which has been so much fun. Mira Claire Boutique is a family business that we all chip in to make work. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. When we started the business, we had absolutely no idea what we were doing. So, we made a lot of mistakes in the beginning and had to learn everything for ourselves. I think the biggest obstacle we overcame was defining who we were as a business and what our focus was. We really just want to make fairytales happen. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
We work with an amazing artist who designs the prints for our branded clothing called Miracles. I also love to be creative with dance costumes and designs. We are known for our fairytale and character wear, and that is also what we specialize in. I am most proud of our Miracles brand; these are designed by us from top to bottom and in collaboration with a very talented artist. What sets us apart from others is quality. We have worked really hard to develop quality fairytale wear at a reasonable price; everything is super soft and easy to wear. 

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
We use Shopify for our business, so we read their blogs. I loved Business Boutique, the book, and the podcast.
