Hi Andrel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Back in 2013 I came home from work & my baby was walking . I was working 12 hrs a day & when I came home to that I quit that day . So than I asked for a job where I could still be there for my baby I than started braiding friends hair but I didn’t like it because they wouldn’t pay me always wanted a discount. I had sit down & really ask myself what do you want to do & I remember my grandpa said if u make it a hobby it’s not work . Do what you love .. I love doing hair always did since a little girl.. so I moved away to other state Charleston SC for 5 years & didn’t have no family or friends just me & my son & GOD .. for year & half I worked at Bojangles as a manager in the morning & I went to hair school at night& on Saturdays I was a shampoo girl for a barbershop & after two years that came to a end because I knew I wanted more. I took the test 4 times & I just couldn’t pass it because nothing on the test was about hair so I gave up & just got my natural hair license. I did hair on the 3rd floor in my living room for a year& working at night for the state of sc mental health & I started looking at my kids get big & I said GOD I need more I want my kids to have a house with a back yard & I’m ready to go home I miss my family & friends . Not even 7 days later my best friend called me & told me he had cancer & than my mama called & said she had kidney failure so I had get home ! I took my whole tax refund & moved back home into a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house with a huge back yard & I had two living rooms. I made one of my living rooms into a shop at this time I didn’t have no clients but I had faith ! Laying in the bed my homegirl called & said let’s go out & at first I didn’t wanna go but something said go & when u do take your business cards with you I had 10 left but I only gave one out & it was to the king who was cooking for the party in the back . I said I want pplz who need be seen in my chair . He called 4 days later & when he came to the house for his appointment we was talking & I told him how I was ready to get out the house & back into the shop will after his apt maybe 3 days later he called me & told me his barber was hiring & would like to do an interview. I went to the interview & got the booth but while I was in my interview he asked bout my License I told him I’m good because I’ll be on the road coming back & fwd from sc to nc doing hair so state will never catch me .. lol but later on that night I said but I thought u said u wanted to come back home so u gone need your nc license. I started to do my homework on where I wanted to go school at .. BTY Institute just kept coming up but when I seen that 200 application fee I said what in the world who is this I neven seen nothing like it but the school just keep coming up but I seen the 10 weeks & I went with it lol will I wish I would’ve read a little better cause I didn’t see the 11 hours a day for 3 days lol u til I went to open house lol my money was paid so I couldn’t back out ! I finished in Oct 2021 but I walked out with a business plan & so much more ! I had my 3 baby coming in March 22 I got my license in February of 22 had my shop open & going in 22 for Mother’s Day that was my gift to myself . The last 3 years I been working n getting better on my craft but Remember the shop I was working in will a year later it became mine for two years & now today we have a private location & the Lloclab is one of the best shop in Fayetteville NC the people said it not me … check our reviews on google

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No not even a little . Keeping faith even when you don’t see how it’s going to work out . The nos was never a rejection. It was more like redirection.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a locksmith and I specialize in locks detoxing repairing restoring, putting love back into the crown just knowing that I made somebody fall back in love with the crown is everything to me. What I love the most and what I’m proud of the most is that my kids get to see me do it And my clients choose me to be able to pour the love into the crown. What sets me aside from others is the education that I give to my clients so they’re able to talk to other people about their locks not only that the love that I have for my passion and I don’t mind telling my clients with something is not for them so the fact that they trust me, I’m here for it.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
if you are a young entrepreneur and you ready to get your journey started just have faith in yourself even when you don’t see it just keep going. Don’t give up on yourself cause your time could be next. You just gotta know that you’re worthy.
