Meet Angela Mabe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Mabe.  

Hi Angela, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My husband Mark founded March Legend in 2001. At the time, affordable custom furniture was almost unheard of. Rewind a couple of years before; he owned several furniture stores that sold Early American and Traditional style furniture. Customers often asked if they could get their furniture in a custom size or color. This is where he got the idea to start March Legend. We were married in 2005. We moved to Danbury, where we built our home and built our furniture shops. We haven’t looked back. Since then, we have built our furniture brand into what it is today. March Legend Furniture is a brand that is synonymous with quality and style. Each piece we build is handcrafted and hand-finished one piece at a time. We owe our success in the industry to the amazing support we’ve received, which has garnered much admiration and accolades. With a focus on sustainability and timeless design, March Legend Furniture continues to create beautiful pieces that are both practical and stylish, destined to become cherished family heirlooms for generations to come. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In 2007, our shop caught fire due to testing organic finishes just a week before the Fall High Point Market. The incident was devastating as we had just completed and moved in all our High Point Market samples into the shop. Our entire planned showroom was now ashes. However, amidst the tragedy, we found a silver lining as we were able to rebuild, expand and improve our process. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Our furniture is handmade & family crafted on our working farm in the inviting foothills of North Carolina, just outside the furniture capital of the world. This is where our simple but luxurious creations are born, fussed over, and carefully crafted with decades of experience.
