Meet Anita Yousif of Oasis Skincare Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita Yousif.

Hi Anita, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Back in 2009 when my young children started school full time, I decided to work part time to just make a little extra money. I had a friend who owned Oasis Day Spa and I approached her about working there doing waxing services. She informed me that I needed to be licensed in order to work there. So I enrolled in school and got my license as a cosmetologist. I chose this path because it would allow me to experiment with waxing, nails, facials and hair. I quickly found my passion when I stared doing facials. I focused all my energy on skincare. After I graduated, I went back to my friend to become her employee and she had made the decision to move out of state. She asked if I would be interested in buying the business. The answer was yes of course but I was terrified since I had never owned a business prior. 16 years later, I am doing what I love more than anything. I have dedicated my time to educating myself and my clients by attending spa conferences and taking classes that focus on health and wellness and its connection to our skin. I am currently providing facial and waxing services to my clients who have been regulars for years and to new clients who come to me by word of mouth. Life is Good!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think anyone who owns a business and is self employed is going to experience a smooth road all the time. Being a business owner is extremely challenging. Having to rely on employees to show up to work, the highs and lows of slow season and busy season and always stressing about whether or not you are able to pay your bills. In a perfect world, the road would always be smooth when running your own business but unfortunately that is not the case.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Oasis Skincare Studio?
Oasis has been in business for a long time now and what sets my business apart from the others is my approach to skincare. I believe in non-invasive techniques and a holistic approach to doing facials. During my consultation with a client, I try to address the root causes of skin issues by focusing on diet, stress and overall wellness. I try to educate my clients about using non toxic and chemical free products and relying on nature to nurture their skin. My facials are what bring repeat clients back . I live a clean and healthy lifestyle and I try to lead by example. All the products that I use and sell are all plant based with clean ingredients.
I would like for people to know that if they are in need of a facial or a wax service and don’t want the clinical approach, than look no further. Oasis provides a tranquil environment with a nature inspired theme where you truly feel relaxed, rejuvenated and refreshed. Serenity awaits as well as beautiful, flawless skin.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I strongly recommend being mindful when purchasing skincare products. Don’t just buy anything off the shelf. Read ingredients and do your research. There are too many over the counter products that contain ingredients that are harmful to our endocrine system and hormones. Afterall, our skin is our largest organ and everything you put on it is going directly into your blood stream. So, make sure to look for products that have the following list of NO’s:
no parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, SLS, sulfates, mineral oils, and no artificial fragrances and colors.
Don’t fall for trends. Your skin doesn’t need a routine that includes 10 different products. The most important are cleansing, moisturizing and wearing mineral sunscreen daily. That is the true and easy way to beautiful, healthy skin.
