Meet Anna Crollman of My Cancer Chic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Crollman.

Hi Anna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was 27 years old, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. As someone who always loved reading blogs for fashion and beauty advice, I immediately looked to blogs for support during my cancer journey and came up empty. I decided to start blogging to fill that void for young women facing cancer by sharing my story and how fashion and beauty helped me navigate hair loss and the trauma of my mastectomy, chemotherapy, reconstruction, and life after cancer. Over the years my blog and social media platform grew and expanded as I evolved as a creator. I strive to inspire young women to thrive through adversity with self-confidence and style. As I have grown as a person through my cancer and infertility journeys, my community has gotten to know me and I have had the honor of impacting their lives on a day-to-day basis through my content. Today I work full time in local government and I share my life as a mother, blogger, and health advocate on my blog and social media. I love inspiring my community to live their most authentic lives filled with vulnerability and confidence. I also get to work with amazing brands and organizations to make a difference in the lives of others through advocacy and passion-focused partnerships.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My path has been the complete opposite of smooth. Every time I would heal from one struggle such as my cancer diagnosis, I was faced with another such as navigating the depression and anxiety of life after treatment. As the years went on, I would continue to persevere but life tried to knock me down with pregnancy losses, ectopic pregnancy, and a miscarriage before I would welcome my son in 2019. While I wouldn’t wish my worst days upon my enemy these struggles have built my resilience. I am stronger than I ever knew I could be and I try to carry the lessons I traversed with me in everyday life. Part of growing my blog and content creation business has been channeling these struggles into my writing and advocacy. By sharing both the pain and the joy, my community has come to know that me on a deeper level building the community I’ve always wanted. Despite the past and the challenges of life, I try to always encourage my readers and social media followers to find hope and use their pain and struggle to find new opportunities.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about My Cancer Chic?
My Cancer Chic is not just a blog but a community of support and encouragement. My Cancer Chic provides insight and resources for women going through cancer, the people who love them, and anyone looking for a story of hope. On my blog and social media, you can expect to find inspiration, humor, resources for the cancer community, and a dose of cuteness as I share life as the mom of a toddler – our rainbow baby after cancer. One of my most exciting moments was being featured on The Wendy Williams Show during her breast cancer awareness segment. I hope that my story continues to educate and inspire women around the world.

How do you define success?
Success is making it to a place in your life you previously only dreamed of.

The hardest part of pursuing your dream is just getting started. At the beginning, my website wasn’t pretty. I had no idea what I was doing and I made a lot of mistakes but those learning experiences shaped my work ethic and helped me develop the perseverance needed to sustain my business in the long term. Don’t be afraid to get messy at the beginning so the hard parts yourself and learn from your own mistakes. No one expects perfection from the beginning except you. The second important piece of advice is that your voice is unique. In my market, it is very oversaturated and a lack of confidence delayed me from starting my business for a long time. What I realized when I got started is that there is room for every unique voice and one person’s success doesn’t mean there isn’t room for my success as well… Think about your talent, the value you bring with your voice and business, and never lose confidence,
