Meet Anthony Baldridge of Baldridge Farm LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Baldridge.

Anthony Baldridge

Hi Anthony, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Anthony Baldridge; I’m the president of Baldridge Farm LLC, a compost facility and regenerative farm based out of Orange County, NC. My journey began in 2012 when my high school buddy sparked my curiosity about wild mushroom foraging. Sometime later, I learned about the “World Wide Web,” an underground mycelia network allowing forest ecosystems to exchange vital nutrients and information. In 2019, my fascination with fungi led me to teach Tradd Cotter, a professional mycologist and microbiologist. In 2021, I learned about Chris Trump and the “Soil Food Web.” Chris Trump is a macadamia nut farmer out of Hawaii who teaches Korean Natural Farming. In Chris Trump’s class, I learned about Youngsang Cho, the founder of JADAM organic farming. In 2023, I took a certification class by Youngsang Cho when he came to the USA.

Would you have a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a single member of an LLC, I struggle to manage my personal life because I tend to all business operations, including being the entrepreneur, general manager, technician, and sales representative.

We’ve been impressed with Baldridge Farm LLC, but for folks who might be more familiar, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart?
Baldridge Farm is a regular-season vendor at Eno River Farmers Market in downtown Hillsborough, NC, where I sell craft compost, nutrient-dense vegetables, and seasonal wild mushrooms. Utilizing our compost is a very effective way to establish beneficial indigenous microorganisms in your farm and garden soil. Living soil is critical for enriching nutrient density within our crops, aiding humans from nutrient deficiency, which often leads to disease. Baldridge Farm is known for promoting natural farming techniques and sparking interest in the power of wild mushrooms as functional foods. Unconventional academia sets me apart from traditional agricultural backgrounds. Self-tutelage and the ability to seek out and pursue certifications from global leaders in the regenerative farming sector is a unique attribute. Whether you’re a commodity farmer or backyard hobby gardener, Baldridge Farm wants to encourage everyone to live regeneratively.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
