Today we’d like to introduce you to Arica Damaya Scott.
Hi Arica , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was 15, with content creation always at the heart of what I do. At 19, I earned my real estate license and began working under my mother, Benita — founder of The Property Shop NC and a true force in North Carolina real estate. Her example taught me how to lead with excellence.
Now, I’m carving out my own lane as a rising agent with The Property Shop NC, which recently partnered with Compass. Alongside real estate, I’ve built a growing beauty brand, So Glossy Cosmetics, and a digital presence that connects with women who are building, buying, and leveling up. I’m focused on making real estate feel stylish, smart, and accessible — and I’m just getting started.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road — but every challenge has shaped me. I became a full-time real estate agent while still in college, which meant juggling classes, showings, clients, and deadlines all at once. While a lot of people my age were out partying or enjoying a typical college experience, I was focused on building something bigger. There were plenty of late nights, early mornings, and moments of doubt, but I kept showing up.
Balancing entrepreneurship, school, and real life wasn’t always easy, but it taught me discipline, time management, and how to stay committed to the bigger picture. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing — it’s those quiet, focused seasons that built the foundation for where I am now.
As you know, we’re big fans of So Glossy Cosmetics Owner, The Property Shop NC – Compass. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m part of The Property Shop NC — a boutique real estate firm recently partnered with Compass — where we specialize in helping clients find home in every sense of the word. We’re known for combining personalized service with deep market knowledge, and for making every client feel seen, heard, and supported. I personally focus on helping first-time homebuyers and young professionals navigate the process with clarity and confidence.
Outside of real estate, I also run So Glossy — a cosmetics brand that celebrates beauty, confidence, and soft luxury. From glosses to glow, it’s a line made for women who want to feel bold yet effortless. What sets So Glossy apart is the energy — it’s girly, grown, and grounded. Every product is designed to enhance, not cover up, and every drop is built with intention.
Whether I’m handing someone the keys to their first home or helping them feel like that girl with a swipe of gloss, everything I do is rooted in empowerment. That’s the heart of my brand — and what I hope people feel when they come across my work.
How do you think about luck?
I think luck has played a part, but only in moments where preparation and consistency were already present. I’ve been fortunate to grow up around real estate and learn from my mom, but nothing’s ever just been handed to me. I had to show up, stay disciplined, and prove I was serious about the business.
The same goes for content creation. A few moments of visibility or viral posts may seem like “luck,” but those moments only happened because I stayed consistent behind the scenes — even when no one was watching. Creating content while building a business takes time, effort, and a lot of trial and error. What may look like overnight success is usually years in the making.
