Meet Ashley Ferrell of Wilson- Eastern NC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Ferrell.

Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grabbed this off of my website I created…..

The Feathered Farm Co. began alongside my husband, Zeke, rooted in both creativity and the farm life we love so much. I’ve always had an eye for design and detail, but it was the encouragement of family and friends that finally gave me the confidence to take the leap and turn a passion into something more.

What started as a small side hobby offering rentals has steadily grown into a full-service wedding and event planning business. Over time, I discovered just how much I love not only organizing and coordinating, but truly designing — from stationery and signage to the smallest finishing touches that make an event feel personal and intentional. Seeing a vision come to life is one of the greatest joys of what I do.

While “The Feathered Farm Co.” may not sound like a traditional wedding brand, the name reflects who I am at my core. It was inspired by a small dream my husband and I share of building our own cattle herd and growing something meaningful together on our farm. I’m a farm girl who loves animals, the outdoors, and meaningful gatherings. We have farm animals of our own, along with our two sweet pups — a Chocolate Lab and a Boykin Spaniel — and that grounded, family-centered lifestyle influences everything I create. Hospitality, hard work, and heart are woven into both our farm and our business.

I’m also deeply rooted in my faith and incredibly grateful for the love and support that has carried us this far. I balance wedding planning with farming, working in healthcare, tending to our home, and embracing my inner DIY spirit — and somehow, each piece complements the other.

What began as a small dream has grown into something truly meaningful. I feel honored every time a couple trusts me with their day, and I’m excited to continue building a business that reflects beauty, intention, and genuine care.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road — but I truly believe the challenges are what shape you.

I started this business while working full time as a medical sales representative and being married to a farmer, which meant long days, unpredictable schedules, and learning how to juggle a lot at once. Building something from the ground up while maintaining a full-time career required discipline, late nights, and a lot of faith.

In the beginning, one of the biggest challenges was simply believing in myself enough to take the leap. Turning something you love into a real business requires courage and consistency. There’s a big difference between having a creative talent and building a sustainable brand, and I’ve had to learn the business side step by step.

Farm life has also taught me that not everything is within your control. Weather, timing, and unexpected changes are part of daily life — and those lessons translate directly into weddings. That experience has made me calm under pressure and prepared for the unexpected, which is invaluable on event days.

Thankfully, I’ve never done this alone. I’m incredibly blessed with a strong support system. My mom, especially, has been the hands-on help I needed — whether that’s setting up, organizing, or simply encouraging me when things felt overwhelming. Having family beside me has made the journey not only manageable, but meaningful.

Looking back, I wouldn’t change the struggles. They’ve strengthened my faith, refined my work ethic, and helped me build something that feels authentic and lasting.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At The Feathered Farm Co., I offer full-service wedding planning, design, and event styling. While weddings are my primary focus, I also specialize in showers, parties, and other meaningful gatherings. I love being part of life’s milestone moments — whether it’s a wedding day, a baby shower, or a beautifully curated celebration with family and friends.

I’m known for creating refined, thoughtfully designed events that feel deeply personal. From timeline management and vendor coordination to custom stationery and signage design, I enjoy bringing every detail together in a cohesive and intentional way.

This year, I’ve expanded my services to include full floral design, taking on weddings where I provide both planning and complete florals. Being able to oversee the logistics, design vision, and floral elements allows for a seamless aesthetic from start to finish, which has been incredibly rewarding.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the balance I bring between creativity and structure. Events require both artistry and precision, and I’m known for being calm, organized, and prepared behind the scenes while creating beautiful environments in front of them.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I think one of the biggest things I’ve learned is that meaningful moments don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. The details matter, but what matters most is how a day feels — the people gathered, the memories made, and the love shared.

I never imagined a small dream would grow into something like this, and I’m incredibly grateful for every couple and family who trusts me to be part of their celebrations. Each event is personal to me, and it’s an honor I don’t take lightly.

Whether you’re planning something large or intimate, my goal is always the same: to create a space where you can be fully present and truly enjoy the moment you’ve been waiting for.

I’m thankful for the support of my family, my faith, and this community, and I’m excited to continue serving others through something I genuinely love.
