Hi Aylicec, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, I am Aylicec Rojas, CFO and Co-founder of AVRAC Finance, along with my husband Jose Cabrita, CEO, and co-founder of AVRAC Finance. We were born in Caracas, Venezuela, and have lived in Clayton, NC over 10 years. In 2013 and 2015 our 2 children were born in this wonderful state.
In my country I had the opportunity to study 2 professional careers simultaneously, first I obtained the title of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 2002 at the Universidad Santa María and since then I have kept up with international accounting standards. Then in 2004, I obtained the title of Business Administrator at the Universidad Central of Venezuela. I have more than 20 years of experience in the Financial and Accounting area, which has given me the opportunity to work in different institutions public and private (Venezuela, Spain, and the USA).
When I came to the United States in 2012, I started to study the American financial system, therefore I joined a major bilingual financial institution in North Carolina. This has allowed us to help families with their personal finances, we have even collaborated with non-profit organizations educating hundreds of people with our Financial Planning Master Class, in English and Spanish.
In the summer of 2019, my husband and I made the decision to go to Spain and Italy to train, José in the IT area and me in Finance, as well as give our children the opportunity to learn 2 new languages and cultures other than English (Spanish and Italian).
In March 2020 living in Madrid, Spain, we were affected by the Pandemic situation, the Spanish economy collapsed, the government kept us confined for more than 40 days and the only way to generate income was without leaving home.
At this moment we used the Stock Trading to support our family economically, while we planned our return to the USA because already in Spain we had achieved the objective that we had initially set for ourselves.
Before arriving in the USA and starting over, we broke down our limiting beliefs and attended online seminars from leading Life Coaches and personal branding specialists.
In December 2020, I was certified to be a Tax Preparer by the IRS, we partnered with friends and colleagues of Public Accountants in the USA, Panama, Spain, and Venezuela. This is how we start our Virtual Office, offering Tax services, Accounting and Bookkeeping Services, Financial Education, Business Management, and Financial Consulting around the world.
Another business that we created after opening our Virtual Office was our Stock Market and Finance Academy that we call AVRACDEMY, with the support and direction of my parents who are Specialist Teachers, starting this initiative when several close relatives and friends wanted to learn about personal finance and investments. We currently have students all over the world, Australia, London, Spain, Italy, Chile, Venezuela, Panama, and the United States.
It has been a great family team, my husband manages the IT and technology area, and I manage the business, our children have been involved in the entire creation and development process, actively participating in the Trading and Finance classes. We hope that you share information financially with your friends because it is a weak point in Basic Education worldwide. Our Parents, who are Specialist Teachers, oversee the designing and organizing of the content of our Academy.
Our IKIGAI is to share knowledge and experiences in the financial area, to help improve the lives of others regardless of borders or languages.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Success doesn’t come easily, but with discipline and faith, anything is possible.
When we started the project, we did not have all the necessary tools, we were arriving from Spain, and we had to equip our virtual office. Months later we conditioned the space for our virtual classroom, for this we made a large investment in state-of-the-art technology and Marketing (Digital and traditional) to offer all our services, we also participated as sponsors in private events.
The biggest challenge has been to offer our online services, all-time people are used to visiting a physical office, but with the new Post-Pandemic era, at this moment some clients have preferred virtual meetings instead of face-to-face ones.
