Today we’d like to introduce you to Barry Herndon.
Hi Barry, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My full-time road band signed exclusively with EastCoast Entertainment (ECE) in 1989 and in January of 1997, I opened the Raleigh, N.C. ECE office. After many years working as an agent, I was made a partner at the company in 2015. I’ve been involved with the company for well over ½ of my life!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I started out with ZERO booking accounts. I was given a phone and a yellow page book – yes they existed back then. I was making 50-60 cold calls per day. My advice for any others who have to be in this industry is to be patient, persistent, consistent, honest, transparent and REAL!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Senior Managing Partner at EastCoast Entertainment. I manage the Raleigh, NC office, and am a member of the executive committee and actively book an almost 30 year book of business.
My biggest accomplishment? Starting from little to nothing and moving up the management/ownership chain.

Any big plans?
I plan to keep booking bands. It’s what I am and what I do! My goal is to retire at 70 years old and the way time flies, it will be here in the blink of an eye. I will walk away from the booking world with no regrets!
