Meet Brandon Keeton of Keetdog Productions LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Keeton.

Hi Brandon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I did 21 years in the Marine Corps and as I was getting out, I started a small business. A few years later, the business was very successful. It was a Martial Arts school. I loved being a coach and the “neighborhood dad” but my injuries from the service were catching up to me so I knew my time as a school owner would be shorter than most.

Before joining the service, I had a scholarship for Acting to Morehead State University in Kentucky that I didn’t take so I could join the Corps so I thought, “Well, I’ve lived a life of service to other people for 30 years. Maybe it’s time I did something just for me.” Three months later I was the Scotts Lawncare guy, and three months after that I was Executive Producing and acting in a film that would go on the win Best Indie Film of the Year for 2023, Turbo Cola (currently available wherever you go to watch movies!).

Since then, I’ve delved into Writing and Directing as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not really smooth but smoother than most. Because I was retired (again) and the wife works a regular job, we aren’t hurting for money so I can take my time with projects I’m doing and when, on occasion, I book something on the Acting side of things, it’s not like I have to ask someone to cover my shift or worry about a boss not liking when I take time off to make things.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I own a small Production Company and car rental fleet. The proceeds from this, helps me fund my own projects.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I remember being interested in everything except for school. I hated school. They don’t teach for the entrepreneurial or artistic mind. It was frustrating. Senior year was the only year I passed everything and it was because I HAD to in order to join the service. After a few years in, they decided to send me to college. I was terrified. But I took the SAT and as it turns out, I wasn’t dumb, as had been implied (or on one occasion told to me directly), I could actually do this. It was the beginning of me seeing that others will try to hold you back for their own reasons. Just go and do what you want. And if you fail, you at least tried.
