Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Baker.
Hi Cassandra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Cassandra Baker, better known as PinkLash. I started with a passion for music, writing, and using my voice to express what I’ve experienced. Over time, I grew into more than an artist—I became a host, promoter, actress, entrepreneur, and community activist . I created CityTalk w/ PinkLash, helped organize Industry Night events that give independent artists and producers opportunities to perform and network, and founded 4Justice to promote fairness, unity, and accountability. My journey has included challenges and setbacks, but I’ve turned those experiences into motivation. Today, I’m continuing to build the PinkLash brand, create opportunities for others, advocate for my community, and pursue my purpose with determination, authenticity, peace, and love.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has been far from easy. As a mother, independent female hip-hop artist, entrepreneur, and activist, I’ve had to keep pushing even when I felt exhausted, overlooked, unsupported, and unsure of how I would make everything work. I’ve faced financial struggles, closed doors, broken promises, betrayal, and moments when the people I believed in did not believe in me. I’ve often had to build my dreams without the funding, connections, or dependable team that many others have.
There were times when I cried, questioned myself, and felt like giving up—but something inside me refused to quit. My purpose has always been bigger than my pain. Every obstacle has made me stronger, wiser, and even more determined to succeed. I turned my struggles into music, my pain into purpose, and my experiences into a voice for others. I’m still standing, still creating, and still fighting for everything I believe in. My story is not about having an easy path—it’s about refusing to let a difficult one stop me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an award-winning independent hip-hop artist, songwriter, actress, host, promoter, entrepreneur, and community activist known as PinkLash the “Hip Hop Hippie”. I specialize in creating bold, authentic music inspired by real-life experiences. My work carries confidence, personality, truth, and purpose—I want people to feel empowered, entertained, and understood when they hear my music.
Beyond performing, I created CityTalk w/ PinkLash and I also collaborate and help organize Industry Night events, where independent artists and producers can showcase their talent, network, and gain exposure. I’m most proud that I continue to create opportunities for others while building my own career and using my platform to stand for justice and positive change.
What sets me apart is that I’m not afraid to be original or speak from my heart. I don’t follow trends or try to fit into one box. I combine music, entertainment, advocacy, and entrepreneurship while remaining true to who I am. PinkLash is more than an artist—it’s a movement built on authenticity, determination, peace, and love.
What are your plans for the future?
My future plans are big because I believe my purpose is bigger than music alone. I plan to release more original music and visuals, perform on larger stages, expand into acting and hosting, and take the PinkLash brand nationwide—and eventually worldwide. I also want to grow CityTalk w/ PinkLash into a respected entertainment and media platform that highlights talented people whose voices and stories deserve to be heard.
I look forward to expanding Industry Night, creating more opportunities for independent artists, and growing 4Justice so it can reach and support communities across the country. I’m also working toward securing the right team, sponsorships, partnerships, and distribution opportunities to help bring my vision to its fullest potential.
The biggest change I’m preparing for is transitioning from building everything independently to creating a successful entertainment empire that provides opportunities, creates generational wealth for my family, serves my community, and leaves a lasting legacy. I don’t just want success for myself—I want my journey to open doors for others.
