Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Roush.
Hi Corey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
How I came to be a Master Shaman started when I had my first awakening. When I experienced that moment, I realized how big and expansive everything is. I began to see things entirely differently. From the beginning to the end, I saw myself as who I was, am, and to be. I realized I had gifts that I needed to share to help others grow, but I needed more training or guidance. I grew up in Eastern North Carolina, where you are in the thick of religion. When I had this moment, I shifted from religion to spirituality. We couldn’t talk about these subjects at the time without criticism, shame, or fear. Instead, I kept what I saw and experienced and followed a trail my guides laid before me. Anything that had information for me or validation, I felt peace; everything else I moved past. The more I listened to my guides, the more I grew and evolved. These realizations came from various books, movies, shows, video games, songs, etc., and I knew it because I felt a shift within me. Little did I know entirely then that’s precisely how our soul family and guides lead us to where we need to be. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t become an atheist or shun my past; what really happened is that I got a broader perspective of the stories and a deeper, fuller connection to Source or God. That made all the difference in the world.
Fast forward 20 years, and I am in a relationship, and I was introduced to Chris Krohn, my shaman instructor, and the medicine wheel. It was like this was exactly where I needed to be. I went through the yearlong training program, and as of the last leg of my journey, I started taking on clients and referrals. The medicine wheel, if you are unfamiliar, is the primary focus of the shamanic journey, which is a spiritual journey of going within and facing yourself and your trauma to grow beyond those stories and create a newer, brighter future for yourself. As time moved on to now, every client I worked with, I learned/remembered skills that were latent within me. I created my business, Shamazinghappens L.L.C., and focused on my growth and that of my business. During this time, I met four amazing people in my tribe, my soul team. We often share clients and collectively help each other grow with the skills in which we are proficient, and they have been my family for many lifetimes. Without them, and especially my friends Melinda Michal and Amy Lloyd, I would not be who I am now without their lovingkindness and their firm belief in me that I needed to push myself forward. I wanted to grow a year and a half out of the program. I sought out a mastership program to no avail because of the cost. After a while, my guides spoke loud and clear: do it yourself; we got you. At the same time, I reconnected with my soul sibling, Gail Norman Casas, on a random Facebook group, and we have been best friends since then. I attribute my further gifts and drive to her fantastic support and unyielding compassion; I listened and decided to follow their guidance. I spent another 8 months spinning the wheel, moving deeper and deeper until I knew it was time to step up to my purpose.
Along this way, I have a beautiful daughter named Emma, who is 8. I also got married in March of 2024 to a fantastic woman named Jenny Liebel. They are so loving and supportive of me. Now I am here, in this interview, working with another soul family member, Caroline Binz, and a few others at Dancing Moon and working with my soul team, creating a joint venture that is coming to fruition. My purpose is actualized, and I am fully who I am in my power, so I choose to help others reach the same potential without all the drama and frustrations we had. I am truly blessed to have lived my purpose in both my day-to-day job and my soul’s job as a Master Shaman.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been smooth. This process of awakening and ascension is a very destructively beautiful process that brings all of ourselves out of us so we can face it, shift it, grow, and repeat it. Through this process, I have lost friends, family, livelihoods, money, blood, sweat, and tears. But I have gained so much more. I have the perspective of what’s important, who’s worth my time and energy, and the right people to whom I can give my love. Even still, what real, true unconditional love is. I spent a long time working on my past, only to realize that’s no longer who I am. What I am currently working with is to embrace my present and build a brighter future. This journey is very lonely initially, and later, you find help along the way. That is your tribe. The adage, your vibe attracts your tribe is so true. The more I grew, the higher my vibration elevated, and therefore, my tribe got smaller and smaller to the people who show up for me as I do for them in every meaningful way. Now, I wake up with purpose and hope, as I once was lost and hopeless. The biggest struggle I have faced is embracing light and shadow and loving my shadow and my light. It is not all doom and gloom by any means. As I said, I have met some fantastic people who are equally talented and have become my circle. I found my wife; I had my daughter, and she was the main reason I learned about unconditional love. I am also the man who I am today because of my daughter. I found my dream job, created a business, and made a practice aligned with my purpose. I can genuinely be happy and hopeful. The struggle was worth it so I could be here and appreciate my life.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My main focus is helping others face their shadow and work their way through the nights of the soul that people face in this journey of spiritual awakening. I also provide empathic guidance to help people find their way through the good and bad times. I help people see and understand their purpose as well as their gifts. I help people connect with their spirit guides and past and ancestors. I teach people how to use their gifts and learn new skills. I can teach others how to become a shaman by inducting them into the medicine wheel. I am known as the catalyst to growth and advancement and the Wayfinder to lost people. What sets me apart from others is the gift of helping those who face the darkest parts of themselves to get fuller healing. I am also a librarian in the Akashic Records, so I help get people access to and the ability to read their books. I am most proud of and truly enjoy watching someone get excited and hopeful when their energy shifts and when they become actualized.
The big drive I focus on with my business is personal empowerment. I do not call myself a healer; I am a facilitator and a catalyst. I do not take credit for my clients’ work to achieve their healing. I show the clients their capabilities and the ability to heal themselves. I have heard from several people, including myself, that I am unworthy of love or don’t deserve a happy life. Or I am too broken to be fixed. I have on my website a blog that I am working on as a three-part series about my traumatic past. I chose to be vulnerable to share my past to show those who say such things about themselves that they are, in fact, worthy and deserving. I am a prime example that no matter the circumstances of your traumatic childhood, you can make different choices and be more significant than your pain. What does success mean to you?
A few things measure success to me. None of these are how much money you take in or your bank account. Do not get me wrong; I have a business and can make money by helping others heal. I have a day job to provide benefits for my family, make money to pay bills, and be Corey Roush. How I measure success is by the people’s lives you have touched along the way, the levels of internal growth you have faced and triumphed, the love you show and share with others, as well as a job that is aligned with your purpose and your heart if it is a job where you can have both purpose and financial fulfillment, excellent! If you are working a job where you help foster people’s happiness and personal fulfillment every day, that would be amazing! If you wake up every day and say you know what, this is actually cool and amazing! That’s what I measure my success by. I also measure it by the number of failures and strife a person has had to overcome to be here now. That is a resounding success, and how I also measure success by a person’s resilience. No matter what life throws at a person, they get back up repeatedly. They face the shadow, the bully, the abuser, the horrible boss, unruly coworker and say I refuse to give you my power. I refuse to be someone else’s shadow. The level of resilience is also a huge success.
