Meet Daniel Bryant of ME! Motivated and Empowered

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Bryant.

Daniel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
ME! Motivated and Empowered was created from a personal journey that began for me on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. I was in a near-fatal car accident that forever changed my life. I was hospitalized for 30 days, 17 days in ICU. With 6 broken facial bones and a broken arm and numerous lacerations, fear began to set in. I had to learn to breathe on my own, talk and walk. With God’s amazing grace and healing power, I made it through. To God Be the Glory!

During this time, I used my healing time to reflect and grasp the true purpose God had for me. It was to be the bridge that connects people’s hope to prosperity in any situation they may go through. Throughout my adversity, the two words that I would say helped me to develop the most were motivation and empowerment. I came to understand that if I want to achieve something I had to have the motivation each day to walk and grow one step closer to my goal.

Even when fatigue or pain came, there was some inner personal drive that kept pushing me into purpose. Empowerment was huge for me because it allowed me to recognize the power of God and see how he blessed me with the chance to impact change and have a positive influence. I could see how God was positioning me to be able to carry out the plans he had for me. It was at this point when ME! was created.

It was perfect timing because I was in search of myself to determine what I was still here for and God revealed it through developing me. All I know is that God gave me a second chance at life and there was no way I could not do all I can to help someone else.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
While the road has not been smooth, I have learned so much along the way. The first hurdle was finding out about the accident once I was conscious. I immediately knew the gravity of it once I was aware of my injuries. For the first time, learned about the car catching on fire, the call came in as a fatality and seeing the social media messages that said, RIP Daniel.

In other words, some of my friends and classmates thought I was dead. I was concerned about my friends that were with me and were relieved to know that they were going to be okay. The second hurdle was realizing that I could not breathe, talk or walk on my own. I was on a ventilator, had two surgeries, lost 8 teeth and my mouth was wired close for 2 months. The third hurdle was getting my mind to catch up with my heart to believe that I was gonna make it.

I watched the concern from my entire family, friends, and church. My parents and siblings sat right by my bedside never leaving me alone. They were the source of my inspiration to keep fighting. The fourth hurdle was looking in the mirror, seeing scars but more important seeing that I was still here. Being grateful for the ability to breathe, move, and think. The fifth hurdle was pushing through the pain to commit to the work for my total healing. I began to work with therapists on my physical and study the Bible more for my spiritual. I didn’t know how much I would need to get through the hurdle of pain.

It was a matter of life and death once again. The hurdle of pain was physical and emotional. Just when I thought I had endured the most horrific and closest call to death, I had to face the doctor saying I would never play again, some people made fun of the scars that might have looked healed on the outside but the scars were still fresh. I had to look in the mirror and wonder how life would change for me. Will people accept me? Would I be seen as damaged?

Were my dreams to play football gone forever? Who am I now, am I just the boy who had an accident? These hurdles were real and persistent along my journey. I pushed through learning how to turn my pain into a passion that would light a fire to motivate and empower the world.

What matters most to me is staying motivated and empowered in order to inspire others to find and live in their purpose. We never know when our words or actions can make a difference for someone else.

On the day of the accident the words and actions of the Raleigh Fire Station, Wake EMS, WakeMed hospital doctors, nurses all aligned to make a difference for me.
