Meet Danita Shari of Shari. Co Candle & More

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danita Shari.

Danita, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2017, I launched my lifestyle blog Danitashari.com that focused on all things me but with a twist. Including my self-awareness journey after getting out of a very toxic relationship. My blog is a way I express my thoughts, ideas, feelings along with encouraging others to self-preserve. A little after launching my blog, I wanted to create a product that would also help support self-care/preservation and what better way to take my side hobby of candle making and turning it into a full-blown business. In February of 2019, my business Shari. Co candle & more launched with the hopes of supporting that with aromatherapy products. Scents play a major role in how we feel on a daily; therefore soy candles became the perfect product for my audience.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When first launching my small business, it was pretty smooth because it was just my side business; therefore supply and demand was very little. Once we entered 2020 and COVID-19 forced my side business to turn into a larger scaled business FULL-TIME, I had many difficulties keeping up with the new supply and demand; along with balancing a new wave of business. Candle supplies became very hard to get because so many new businesses were launching and that left me to figuring out how could I afford more products without going bankrupt. Eventually, I networked more via social media and found more suppliers. I wanted to give up or take a long break, but everything is divine timing and it was a real lesson.

As you know, we’re big fans of Shari. Co Candle & More. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Shari. Co isn’t just a candle company but a fragrance brand all around that focuses on self-care with aromatherapy products. We have expanded from soy-based candles to all-natural linen sprays and now we currently offer a perfume that is crafted with natural-driven ingredients. The goal of Shari. Co is to remind our customers to take some time out for ourselves because we live in a time where everyone is highlighting being ” booked & busy ” but rarely highlights that downtime and we believe scents play a major part in that. As we mentioned earlier that there are many candle brands out here but the reason why Shari. Co should be a part of everyone’s lifestyle is because we focus on any and everyone looking for some ” THEM TIME ” our packaging is very minimal but sticks out while adding something individual to every being that joins our community.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Be patience with yourself. Things are going to get hard and be scary but breathe and remember that your learning as you go, it’s okay to make mistakes, as long as you learn from them.
