Meet Dr. Jennifer Moore of Raleigh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Jennifer Moore.

Hi Dr. Jennifer, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story has been shaped by service, faith, growth, and a lot of learning along the way. I’ve spent much of my career working in public education, higher education, and mental health, supporting individuals and families through challenges, transitions, and personal growth. Helping people has always been at the core of what I do.

My journey hasn’t been a straight line. Like many people, I’ve experienced seasons of change, setbacks, stretching, and figuring out what was next. But those experiences helped shape who I am today personally, professionally, and spiritually.

I’m passionate about mental wellness, faith, community, and encouraging others. I recently completed my doctoral journey in Christian Theology, which was a major accomplishment for me, and I continue to explore creative and meaningful ways to educate, inspire, and serve.

Where I am today is really the result of perseverance, purpose, and trusting the process even when everything wasn’t clear. I’m still growing, still learning, and still believing that our stories including the difficult parts can be used to make a difference in the lives of others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many people balancing career, purpose, personal life, and growth, there have been challenges along the way. One of the biggest has been navigating transitions and uncertainty while still trying to stay grounded and keep moving forward.

Working in fields like education and mental health can be incredibly meaningful, but it can also be emotionally demanding. There have been seasons of burnout, setbacks, difficult decisions, and moments of trying to figure out what the next chapter should look like. Learning how to care for others while also protecting my own well-being has been an ongoing lesson.

I’ve also learned that growth doesn’t always happen during the easiest seasons. Some of my biggest lessons came through challenges, disappointments, and having to adapt when things didn’t go according to plan. Those experiences strengthened my resilience, deepened my faith, and reminded me of the importance of perseverance and authenticity.

Looking back, I can say the obstacles shaped me just as much as the accomplishments did. They taught me how to pivot, keep learning, and continue showing up even when the path wasn’t completely clear.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work centers around mental health, education, advocacy, and helping people navigate growth, challenges, and life transitions. Over the years, I’ve worked across public education, higher education, and behavioral health, and I’m especially passionate about mental wellness, community support, and creating conversations that help people feel seen and supported.

I’m also a qualified mental health professional, peer support specialist, author, and mental health advocate. I enjoy using writing and education as tools to encourage, inform, and inspire. A lot of my work is rooted in purpose and meeting people where they are.

What I’m most proud of is the impact — being able to support individuals and families, advocate for mental wellness, continue growing professionally and personally, and use my voice and experiences in meaningful ways.

I think what sets me apart is that I bring together professional experience, lived perspective, faith, education, and a genuine passion for helping others. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all conversations around healing, growth, or success. I value real connection, compassion, and creating spaces where people feel encouraged, empowered, and understood.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that life and purpose don’t always go according to the plan you had in your head and that’s okay. Sometimes the detours, delays, and unexpected seasons end up teaching you the most.

I’ve learned the importance of being flexible, staying grounded, and not being so hard on myself. I’ve also learned that helping others is important, but taking care of yourself matters too. You can’t pour from an empty cup.

Another lesson for me has been understanding that growth doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it’s simply showing up, keeping faith, adjusting when needed, and continuing to move forward even when you don’t have every answer.

More than anything, I’ve learned to trust the journey, keep learning, and appreciate how every season even the difficult ones can shape who you become.
