Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth.
Hi Elizabeth, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Absolutely, this is definitely not were I thought my story would ever take me but Im exactly where I’m meant to be. At age 38 I knew that I need to change careers, I had been working as a dog groomer out of a vet office and the job was physically and mentally draining. Don’t get me wrong, I loved what I did and working with dogs everyday was amazing but it just takes a toll on the body.
At the time I was leading some peer led workouts at the local park and new I wanted to do something in that field. During 2020, I did a 200hr yoga teacher training online and started looking into a new career. From there I worked at a stretching facility, were I absolutely fell in love with working hands on with people and being able to see improvements week to week.
I needed to know more about the body, how it worked and how I could help. After some research on what would be the best road to accomplish that, I landed on The Healing Arts & Massage School. It was the best decision I ever made!
After graduation, Sati Wellnes was born, and started off as a mobile business. After 1.5 years of driving from Cary to Raliegh to Clayton and everywhere in between, I found WCNC, my home. I work 4 days a week in office, I have recently been invited back to teach at the massage school and I teach Aerial Yoga at Bradley’s Yoga & Fitness.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Is anything ever a smooth road? Haha
My husband has been my rock through this entire career shift and I couldn’t ever imagine being able to do it without him. There was a huge financial burden the first few years while going through school and building clientele, he stepped right up and filled in all the gaps.
School was hard also, it had been 20 years since I had to do any type of school or studying. I would get so frustrated when I couldn’t quite get something or things just didn’t make sense in my head. There was several nights of tears and not thinking I was good enough. Again, enter husband to the rescue, he would stay up late to quiz me, read papers, and let me practice all my presentations over and over again.
Going through a career change was definitely not a smooth road but having an amazing support system made the difference.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Sati Wellness is mindful Wellness. I offer therapeutic and lymphatic massage, assisted stretching and a combination of the two. At Sati Wellness, Im mindful about how the whole body works together. I take the time to listen to your concerns and address them each individually.
Educating my clients on how to help their body is one of my favorite things. My goal is for you to not have to come see me, I want you to be able to heal yourself, Im just here to help you get there.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I definitely dont consider myself a risk taker, unless you are talking about jumping out of air planes (bucket list item) haha.
With saying that, starting this business was a huge risk and super scary, but it changed my life in so many ways.
I believe if you live your life without taking any risk, you will never know how great it could be.
