Meet Eric Woodruff of Wake Woodworking & Construction

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Woodruff

Hi Eric, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, I may as well have been on a HGTV remodeling show as that was both of my parent’s passion – being pro DIY’ers. A few years after graduating from East Carolina University, I was fortunate enough to purchase my own home in 2020. I spent the next 3 years remodeling every single square inch of my home, seriously every single square inch has been touched… Needless to say this little hobby quickly turned into a passion which then even expanded into building the majority of my own furniture.

After I had finished my own home, I realized I was bored and I didn’t receive the same satisfaction working in tech as I did working with my hands bringing visions to life. I realized I also wanted my work to have a larger impact in the community that I’ve called home since I was 5 years old. After much thought, I decided to follow in my dad’s footsteps.

My dad started Raleigh Car Care, an automobile repair shop servicing the Raleigh and Wake County community 20+ years ago. Over the years I was fortunate enough to spend time in the shop and see how a professional business is ran; I was also able to experience the joy and satisfaction that comes with owning one’s own business, even through all the ups and downs. This is what brought me to decide I should start something of my own.

I launched Wake Woodworking & Construction in July of 2024. Since then I have already been fortunate enough to take on and finish a full first floor renovation (floors, bathroom, and painting) and a basement renovation (new floors, new stair treads, 15 feet of custom built-in cabinetry, four floating shelves, and paint). I’m now working on growing my network and backlog and am ready to help bring people’s visions to life all over Wake County!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Given that I am so new in the business, every day seems to be a new challenge to conquer. The first 2 months I really focused on making sure all aspects of the business were together – a federal tax id, insurance, website, branding, shirts, etc. My latest challenge is now entering the world of marketing and growing my consumer base!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Wake Woodworking & Construction is a single-owner, small business with a strong commitment to bringing homeowners’ visions to life. With a deep passion for craftsmanship, I pride myself on attention to detail, treating every project as if it were my own home. Specializing in custom woodworking and home improvement services, I focus on delivering high-quality, personalized solutions that stand out in both functionality and aesthetics. Servicing homes in the Wake County area, my goal is to ensure that every customer feels heard and satisfied, knowing their project was built with care and expertise.

Customers can rest assured that I personally oversee every project from design to installation. I am prompt and professional, and when a project requires additional help, my crew upholds the same high standards of professionalism and timelines

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is the customer experience, especially with larger projects. I understand how daunting and overwhelming major renovations can be, and that’s why I make it my goal to be with the customer every step of the way. From small tasks like mounting a TV and hiding the wires to full-scale home renovations, I ensure that the process is as smooth and stress-free as possible. My focus is always on helping clients bring their vision to life with minimal hassle.
