Meet Felspar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felspar.

Hello Felspar, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The idea of Felspar began over COVID quarantine with Brayden and Ely writing their first song “Broken Again” on acoustic guitars, outside, sitting 6 feet apart.

Ely’s brother Jackson joined the band immediately after hearing the demo for the first time. After sitting on the song for far too long, we added Garrett Dayton to the lineup. We began playing gigs this past September, and we have been bringing the brutality to every venue in Boone.

Our EP is on all streaming platforms, we have much more coming soon!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been the smoothest road.

To start, COVID stopped us from playing multiple shows, and from us rehearsing. Plus, all our schedules as students keep us busy! Garrett and Brayden are currently suffering from an addiction to the 2016 fad game Pokémon Go. This has rendered us unable to practice or keep any semblance of a legitimate schedule.

Finally, all our other musical projects and endeavors are generally hectic!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We pride ourselves in giving shows that are nothing but brutal. Our favorite part about being in a band is the shows, there’s no better dopamine rush than the mosh pit of a crowd.

When we write our music, we try to use as many of our influences as we can. Each member of the band has their own eclectic music taste, and you see bits and pieces of everything in our music.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
We don’t want commercial success, we only want violence.

This band is so amazing because you can tell that they really enjoy playing for the love of music and sharing their talents with others. I love watching them perform, look out for them whenever you see their name on a bill!
