Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Schupp.
Hi Grace, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was first introduced to Choices Pregnancy Center as a client. I came in for a pregnancy confirmation appointment, and just a couple of weeks later, I returned experiencing heavy bleeding. During that visit, the nurse gently confirmed that I was having a miscarriage. It was one of the most difficult moments of my life.
What I experienced in that space, though, changed me. I was met with compassion, patience, and truly non-judgmental care. I wasn’t rushed through my grief—I was supported through it. That moment gave me a firsthand understanding of how powerful it is when someone simply shows up for you with empathy and care.
That experience stayed with me long after I left.
Over time, I felt a growing pull toward the mission of Choices. I wanted to be part of creating that same environment for other women and families walking through difficult or unexpected situations. Today, as the Development and Marketing Director, I get to help tell the stories of what happens here every day and invite others into that mission. It’s incredibly full-circle, and something I don’t take for granted.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
Personally, walking through pregnancy loss was a defining and painful experience. Grief is complex, and healing isn’t linear. There were seasons where I had to process deeply before I could even begin to see how that experience might shape my future.
Professionally, stepping into a role that asks you to both carry stories with care and share them publicly can be challenging. There’s a balance between honoring someone’s experience and communicating it in a way that invites others to engage and support the mission.
Another challenge is that not everyone fully understands what we do. Part of my role is helping bridge that gap—raising awareness, building trust, and communicating clearly that we are a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental resource for women and families.
But each of these challenges has also strengthened my conviction. They’ve reminded me why this work matters and why it’s worth continuing to show up.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As the Development and Marketing Director at Choices Pregnancy Center, I focus on connecting our community to the work happening inside our center. That includes fundraising, building partnerships, creating content, and sharing stories that reflect the heart of what we do.
I would say I specialize in storytelling with purpose. Every story we share represents a real person, a real situation, and often a really vulnerable moment. I don’t take that lightly. My goal is always to communicate in a way that is respectful, honest, and inviting—so people can both understand the impact and feel compelled to be part of it.
What I’m most proud of is helping more people become aware that a place like Choices exists. So many women walk through our doors saying, “I didn’t know this was here.” Being part of changing that—so women know they have a safe place to turn—is incredibly meaningful.
What sets our work apart is the way we meet people exactly where they are. No pressure, no judgment—just support, education, and care. And for me personally, what sets my perspective apart is that I’ve been on the other side of the desk. I know what it feels like to walk in as a client, and that shapes everything about how I approach my role.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that showing up with compassion can have a lasting impact in ways you may never fully see.
The nurse who sat with me during my miscarriage probably didn’t realize how deeply that moment would shape my life. But her willingness to slow down, to listen, and to care without judgment made a lasting impression that ultimately led me to the work I’m doing today.
That’s something I carry with me daily.
You don’t always see the full impact of your work in the moment—but that doesn’t make it any less significant. Whether it’s a conversation, a kind gesture, or sharing a story, those moments matter.
It’s a reminder that the way we treat people—especially in vulnerable moments—has the power to change lives.
