Meet Harriet Burnette of Fayetteville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Harriet Burnette.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I was born in Whitakers, NC. As a young girl growing up, I can remember my mother and my grandmother singing around the house. That’s when I developed my love for singing. I have been singing all my life. By the time I entered high school, I had developed my singing. In my senior year of high school in 1979, I was introduced to modeling, not knowing it would become such a blessing years later. After attending Winston Salem State University, majoring in Music, I moved to Washington DC, where I started my modeling group called Del-Carlos Production Models in 1985. Since then, I have been training and mentoring young people through various workshops, as well as one on one sessions. In 2022 I became Spokesperson for Peace Is Priceless by Acy Brown Collection. By God’s grace, I was introduced to acting in 2013. Today I have had the opportunity and am honored to act in stage plays TV One Fatal Attraction and several movies on Amazon Prime and Tubi Maverick Tv. I am where I am today because of the great people who believed in me along the way. My main goal in life now is to reach back and give back to our youth the way it was given to me. Four beautiful granddaughters look up to me to set a good example. That’s what I live for.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road, but what road has it been? I decided that any dream worth having was worth whatever it took to get there. In the entertainment industry, there will always be some challenges along the way. In this industry, you get looked over a lot because of your looks, height, and weight; you must act better. You have to stay focused and keep your eye on the prize. No matter how hard or what obstacles get in the way, if you let God order your steps, you will be victorious in life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I am a model, singer, and actress. I am proud to have won several awards for acting and being featured in several magazines for modeling. I train and mentor in modeling and acting. My goal is to teach our youth to grow from low self-esteem to love themselves from the inside out.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Due to the Covid-19 Crisis, I have learned that your health is very important to you and your loved ones. I have seen several friends and family members die due to Covid. We only have one body God gave us, so we must take care of it. So please take care of yourselves.
