Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Symosky.
Hi Holly, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I didn’t grow up with a ton of money, I got myself through college and graduate school working 3 jobs. During this time I also became a pet owner to a lovely German shepherd mix. This led to me to require my own pet care services. I found myself struggling with finding quality care that was also convenient for myself – most boarding facilities are only open for an hour on Sunday’s (the day most people are traveling!) and finding quality sitters that you trust in your home was difficult. In 2020, I decided to start watching dogs because I wanted to help and knew I could do it well. I knew that I had an above average education on dogs and had a track record of being reliable, dependable and never letting people down. One of the main things I strive for in my business is that we never leave owners hanging – once we commit, we ensure that dog is cared for.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running my own pet care company has had some challenges – pet care is a 24/7 job, even if you have a client who you only drop-in a few times a day, you are still responsible for everything happening to that animal and their home in the hours in between. Even when you’re closed for vacations, owners will still reach out about your availability and try to plan their own trips. There is no “off” button when it comes to pet care. The frustrating thing is the culture around pet sitting and how many think we only let a dog outside and throw food in a bowl – but we are also expected to rush them to the vet at 2 o’clock in the morning if we see something wrong. Nobody talks about that second part and assumes that their dog won’t require that type of care, but that’s why we prepare for emergency services.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Holly’s Dog Sitting is a boutique pet care brand built on trust, safety, and an exceptionally personal touch. We’re known for creating an environment where pets feel genuinely understood, celebrated, and cared for with intention.
We focus on premium, high-quality pet care with an emphasis on individualized attention and unparalleled communication. One of the things our clients love most is the visibility they get into their pet’s day. Some families receive 40–60 photos and videos daily, giving them complete peace of mind and a window into their pet’s experience with us. Our goal is that no client has to ask how their pet is doing – they should know!!
What sets us apart is our ability to balance professionalism with real friendship. Our clients feel like family because their dogs become woven into our everyday lives. I take this work incredibly seriously. These pets matter to me. I miss them when they are not here, I get excited when I see a favorite name appear on the calendar, and I have cried when longtime clients have passed away. Some clients may see us as just the sitter and just a part of their day, but this is our LIFE.
At the same time, I believe in being thoughtful and business minded. If we were too accommodating and constantly offering discounts, making exceptions for dogs who aren’t the right fit, taking on jobs when we are suppose to be taking a break, or waiving fees, we would not be able to sustain our services. Maintaining boundaries ensures longevity, fairness, and the ability to provide exceptional care for every family who relies on us. A healthy business means a healthy, reliable pet care option for our community.
We are proud of the warm and polished brand identity we have built. Our brand is fun, but also luxurious. Holly’s Dog Sitting is recognized for strong communication, high safety standards, and a fun, community-centered personality.
At Holly’s Dog Sitting, we blend professionalism with heart. We want readers to know that we offer more than pet care. We offer a trusted partnership built on sincerity, consistency, and a true love for the animals who spend their time with us.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is my grandma making pancakes for me. She just used the complete aunt jemima mix, but for some reason hers tasted the best.
