Today we’d like to introduce you to James Johnston.
Hi James, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I practiced traditional family medicine for 19 years. 45 patients a day. Doing most of my patient’s procedures and minor surgeries. Large office with 7 full-time employees. “You may run down the hall but turn the doorknob slowly,” is how the family practice residency director described a patient-centric approach to me when I was chief resident in Portsmouth, Ohio. Apologize for being behind, listen intently, and rush your way through the day.
When I moved to North Carolina in 2018, Atrium and Novant, the two largest medical conglomerates in Charlotte, announced a new policy: they would not allow their physician employees to continue to see patients who did not get all the vaccines. “Educate before you vaccinate” was my policy and always had been. I didn’t give my children all the vaccines because the evidence revealed that, for many of them shots, the risk was greater than the benefit. Charlotte was the largest homeschool community in the world and had a large number of home-birthers and “crunchy moms.” Why wasn’t the medical community respecting parental choice when it came to vaccines?
So, I opened a family practice in Charlotte that openly invited vaccine-hesitant patients. I considered them an underserved patient population and was honored to take care of them. I worked at Urgent Cares and in short-term FP positions at both Atrium and Novant until my practice gradually picked up.
Enter the Pandemic! At the onset of the COVID pandemic, I worked at a FEMA-constructed 200-bed hospital at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. I was soon an expert on the cutting edge of the insidious COVID pathogen. I was against the COVID vaccines when they first came out because all three of them were created from cell lines made from aborted babies. I am pro-life and am against killing children to make vaccines. I was also concerned that the pioneer of reverse mRNA vaccine technology, Robert Malone, opposed the COVID vaccines in spite of the fact that utilized his ground-breaking technology. He thought the risk was greater than the benefit. Brilliant physicians like Peter McCullough and Pierre Kory gave very convincing summaries of the evidence exposing the benefit of the repurposed generic drugs hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin, and several supplements, to reduce the morbidity and mortality of the COVID pathogen. I was mystified that the government and most medical groups bad-mouthed these medications and pushed the vacuous vaccine narrative. Facts have continue to heap against the vaccination approach to the COVID pandemic and cast aspersions upon the motives of the medical groups that bad-mouthed ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine early on. So, I opened up my practice to do “one-time consults” for patients around the nation, prescribing ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine and a host of beneficial supplements for COVID-infected patients. This was lifesaving for many patients and rewarding for me.
Joining my family practice is less half the cost of my nearest competitor in the Charlotte area. I charge based upon the size of the family in the home. I did this to make it financially beneficial for families to bring their elderly family members to come live with them. As medical director of two nursing homes in my career, what was done to the elderly residents of nursing homes across America was criminal. Thousands died in solitary confinement due to draconian, fascist government policies and medical recommendations that disallowed visitors. And the isolation was not lifesaving, as the pandemic ravaged through nursing home populations anyway, in spite of the vaccines. The best place, in my opinion, for elderly loved ones to live is with their children and grandchildren. Bringing more elderly people into my practice, of course, brings me a lot more work without much cost to families, but I consider it one of the most rewarding aspects of my career.
My family practice continued to grow, and I brought on a nurse practitioner, Kaitlyn Barnett, to help share the load. Learn more about my practice at YourHomeMedicalCare.com.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Two physicians complained to the NC Medical Board that I prescribed ivermectin for their patients. Fortunately for me, both patients and families claimed I saved their lives, and they wrote letters to the medical board in my defense. The FLCCC compiled the data showing that the medication reduced the morbidity of COVID around the world, and this made it very easy to defend myself. Thank God, I was vindicated before the Board for this.
The most rewarding moment of this debacle was when a member of the Board contacted me when he got COVID requesting a script for ivermectin. Apparently, my summary of the evidence was powerful enough to convince him that he should get a script. Even though the NC Medical Board still continued to persecute physicians who prescribed ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine for COVID-infected patients.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
Please go to YourHomeMedicalCare.com to learn more about my practice. Patients who live within a half-hour of Charlotte’s beltway can sign up and make an appointment, and I will come to their home. I do provide family medicine care for patients all over the country, but they must rest content with telemedicine.
If you’re ill with COVID or want a course of Ivermectin to have on hand, should you become infected, order a “One-Time Consult” on my website, and I’ll take care of you.
