Today, we’d like to introduce you to Jay Knight. Jay was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Derrius Mallory.
Jay, thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
Growing up, I’ve always been around music. I grew up in a family that went to church every Sunday. I would never sing in church however, that environment molded me into who I am today. I use to go home and try to mimic what I heard the soloists do. I was also in band throughout grade school. Did marching band 2 of my 4 years of high school. So yeah, music has always played a huge role in my life.
Please talk to us about your creative work and career. What should we know?
I want readers to know that I am doing my best to bring originality back. Everything I record is full of raw emotions and it’s apparent with every note that I sing or every line that I rap. I promote heavily on instagram @jayknightofficial and am also on all platforms (Apple Music, Spotify, etc.) under the name Jay Knight. My YouTube can also be found Jay Knight Official
Derrius Mallory and DeeBoogieTv have been great to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship with them as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Derrius Mallory and DeeBoogieTv and your experience with them.
I met Derrius my freshman year of college. It was myself and two other friends. We were walking past the cafeteria and he was outside selling his NINE19 merchandise. I told him that I made music and my goal was to bring originality back. In which, his response was he would keep an eye out for me. After that I told him that I would buy something from him to support his business the next time I saw him.
That following week, I saw him again and held true to what I said,
Derrius has believed in me when other people wrote me off. He shot my first music video, has helped me book sessions at studios that I would never imagine I would be able to get into. He’s also helped me develop a marketing plan and strategize with what I do every day.
One of the biggest things that he’s taught me is no matter what, keep God first. Through all of the adversity, he tells me that God wouldn’t put me on that path for no reason. He’s truly passionate about what he does whether it’s on the media side of things, artist development, or on the management side.
I see DeeBoogieTV developing into potentially a saycheesetv type of outlet. Helping artist develop and build their platforms while also shedding light to small businesses and helping them reach their full potentials.
