Meet Jennifer And Jaesuk Yu of Sosta Cafe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer And Jaesuk Yu.

Hi Jennifer and Jaesuk, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We’ve always been interested in music, art, and cultural diversity, and we believe food is what connects everyone.
Jaesuk has experienced a wide variety of cuisines, and I grew up in the food industry.
When we found Sosta Cafe, we instantly fell in love with its food and the way it captures the heart of the community. It feels like coming home—enjoying a cup of coffee and a sandwich made with the same warmth and care as if your grandma prepared it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Taking over Sosta Café after it had been loved by the community for 18 years came with a lot of pressure—we wanted to honor its history while bringing our own touch. We also had to learn the business side quickly, from managing inventory to training staff and understanding the customers’ preferences.
There were moments of doubt, long hours, and trial and error, but every challenge helped us grow. What kept us going was the support of the community and our passion for serving food that brings comfort.

We’ve been impressed with Sosta Cafe, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I work as the operator of the business, that is making sure everything is in stock and we are ready for the day of operations. I’m mostly at the front. We have so many regular customers and most of them i know what is their favorite in Sosta. I think thats what makes it especial dining at Sosta cafe. Its small, intimate and more of like going to a friend house and having a pause in our busy daily life.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I really love the sense of community here. People are friendly, and there’s always something happening—local cafes, events, and parks that make the city feel alive.
