Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Cimino
Hi Jenny, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a North Carolina girl, born and raised. Born into a family that was already submerged into the furniture industry, my love for interior design started at a very young age. I loved every aspect of the home and would beg my mom to help organize, shop for new decor, hang wallpaper, garden and keep a tidy home. Watching Martha Stewart and Oprah quickly opened my eyes to the world of interior design and how to make a house a home.
With my passion and drive, I chose to pursue design at a collegiate level. After my studies, I landed a full time position within a firm that specialized in residential remodeling and new build projects. This placed me into a field of primarily focusing on cabinet design. It was through this opportunity that I was challenged to really take an approach to see spaces dimensionally and truly see the possibility that it could be.
During my tenure at that job, I was full commission- this cultivated an entrepreneurship spirit inside of me.
I loved what I was doing, but wanted to have the capacity to do the full spectrum of the job start to finish.
This led me to start my own design firm in 2010 along side of my husband’s real estate firm.
Our worlds had begun forming into a beautiful ecosystem and culture of guiding our clients from start to finish between real estate & design.
In 2015, we rebranded to the renowned firm we are today of lavish.
lavish is a way, it’s a lifestyle. It is our avenue to live out our dreams and goals, guiding our clients to create the spaces that have purpose, meaning and are beautiful.
Our flagiship studio is based out of North Raleigh, NC, over the past decade, have serviced clients spanning the East Coast, the NC, mountains, Texas, Michgan and Arizona.
In late Winter of 2025, we will be opening our second location in Wilmington, NC. This will allow us to service our coastal clients most effectively and efficiently.
It is with passion, drive, conviction and gratitude, that I will continue to lead lavish as a company that could be around for many generations!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No matter what career path you chose, we all face challenges and obstacles. As a designer and a business owner, I face a lot of them every day! A challenge is to stay in tune with the equilibrium of ‘work in the business’ and ‘on the business.’
Both are a passion of mine, but if one side of the scale tips too far one way, problems arise.
My personal approach to design is to take the view point of what challenges/problems are there to solve. I then move towards the question of ‘how can I find a way.’ It is this approach that will keep a positive focus, leaving space and opportunity for creativity.
As a business owner, unforeseen circumstances, such as Covid, place large obstacles in front of you. It is when things are out of my control, I look at it as an opportunity to pivot and practice resiliency.
Exemplifying no fear, rather confidence in knowing I can find a way with our team, resources, drive and passion is my opportunity to impact and lead lavish.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
