Meet Kakeso

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kakeso.

Hi Kakeso, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m originally from the Ivory Coast and have lived in the United States for the past 20 years. I’ve always enjoyed traveling and experiencing different cultures, which has influenced my creative perspective.

My photography journey began when an artist and mentor from Chapel Hill, Fred Good, bought a camera and invited me to document his art shows. That experience introduced me to the local creative community and gave me opportunities to attend events and collaborate with other artists.

Through networking, I met DJ Shykey, who was Rick Ross’s DJ. He invited me to photograph and film at his club, which helped me build connections in the music industry. Those relationships eventually led to my first tour, where I worked with Lil Baby and other artists.

Later, I began working with Timboss, one of the biggest party promoters in the Carolinas. Through that partnership, I had the opportunity to work with major artists, venues, and events while traveling across many states.

During the pandemic, I relocated to Miami, where I expanded my portfolio by working with musicians, models, and other creatives. Each stage of my journey has been driven by building relationships, taking advantage of opportunities, and continuing to grow both creatively and professionally.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been plenty of ups and downs, along with countless late nights and early mornings. There were times when I questioned whether I was making the right choice, but every challenge taught me something valuable. Looking back, I’ve genuinely enjoyed the journey and the experiences that have shaped me both personally and professionally.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in photography and videography, with a focus on event coverage and creating marketing content for clubs, venues, and live events. What sets me apart is the relationships I’ve built over the years. I genuinely value the connections I make because they’ve opened doors to new opportunities and helped me grow both creatively and professionally. I believe that great work builds trust, and strong relationships create lasting success.
