Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylyn Kadah.
Hi Kaylyn , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into photography started way back in in 2012, when I picked up my dad’s old film camera and started photographing friends for fun. Those early rolls of film, now multiple, scrolls down in old Facebook albums, captured a creative spark I didn’t yet realize would become my career. Years later, with encouragement from others and the support of my husband, I took the leap. We split the cost of a camera we found on eBay, and in January 2021, I officially launched my business Kaylyn Kadah Photography.. Things moved fast. I shot my first wedding in October 2021, and by July 2022, I left my full time job to pursue photography full time. What began as a creative hobby has grown into a career I love. capturing milestones for families and couples, while building something meaningful for my own.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While the journey has been incredibly rewarding, it hasn’t always been without challenges. The biggest struggle I’ve faced has been finding a healthy work life balance. As a wedding photographer, many of my busiest days fall on weekends… the same days when my friends and family are typically off and available to spend time together. Learning to create boundaries, be intentional with my schedule, and not overcommit has been an important part of growing both personally and professionally.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Raleigh-based wedding and portrait photographer specializing in capturing authentic, fun, and timeless images. My work is centered around creating photographs that feel true to who my clients are.. the genuine smiles, the nose scrunches, the laughter, and all of the little moments in between. I’m known for my true to color editing style, warm and vibrant imagery, and my ability to capture both the big moments and the small details that often become the most meaningful memories.
My approach is all about making my clients feel comfortable and allowing their personalities and relationships to shine through. I’m not interested in stiff, overly posed images..I want to capture the way a couple naturally loves each other, whether that’s through playful moments, big laughs, emotional embraces, or a little bit of everything. My goal is for my clients to look back at their images and not only see how they looked, but remember exactly how they felt.
What I’m most proud of is not only the work I create, but the relationships I’ve built along the way. Photography is such a personal experience, especially on a wedding day, and I strive to make every client feel celebrated and completely themselves in front of the camera. I truly believe my clients become lifelong friends, and that connection is one of the biggest reasons I love what I do. I have hung out with so many of my brides and my husband has made friends with their husbands! It’s one of the best things to come from my job.
I think what sets me apart is the combination of my artistic eye and the genuine connection I create with my clients. The best images come from trust, authenticity, and creating an environment where people can simply be themselves. Watching my business grow through those relationships and referrals has been one of my greatest accomplishments.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think the wedding photography industry will continue to shift toward a stronger focus on authenticity and creating an experience rather than just delivering beautiful images. While trends will always come and go, I believe couples will continue to value photographs that feel timeless and true to who they are over images that simply follow what is popular in the moment.
I also think we’ll continue to see technology play a bigger role in our industry, from AI tools to new ways of preserving and sharing memories. However, I believe the heart of photography will always remain the same.. the connection between the photographer and the people in front of the camera. No technology can replace the ability to make someone feel comfortable, seen, and celebrated.
