Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Aguirrechu.
Hi Kelly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My family moved to Apex in the fall of 2019, and although eager to get to know the area, we didn’t have much time before the pandemic hit. Once everyone was home, people started turning inwards to their spaces to see how they could live and work peacefully, yet many were hitting frustrating road blocks. Cluttered spaces, closets filled with “I’ll get to it one day” projects, playrooms doing double duty as offices; everyone was losing their minds. That’s when the organizing business idea hit me. Where else can I bring my love for design, shopping, labels and helping people together? As a home organizer, I could do something I love and help people accomplish a project they may not have the time, energy, or capacity to do. Casa by Kelly was created and within a short time was helping organize homes in the triangle.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, yes. I have found that people here are so kind and friendly, and have been open to referring me to their friends and families. Connecting with people in similar or parallel industries has helped so much, and small business owners are always willing to help each other out. Even when the projects ballooned to something much larger than originally planned or involved custom carpentry, I was able to find partners to help provide solutions to each of my customers.
The one thing that I have personally struggled with along the way is trying not to compare my business to everyone else’s business in this age of perfectly curated social media content. I do not need a perfectly curated instagram to be successful, I just need to remain authentically myself, serve my customers, and my people will find me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I specialize in modern home organizing and helping people create spaces that simplify their lives. Home organizing can be anything from sprucing up your kitchen cabinets to decluttering closets, to ensuring you have a professional home office or even reorganizing an entire garage! Kitchens and pantries tend to be the most popular spaces that need attention because as we know, the kitchen is the heart of the home.
I think what sets me apart is being able to relate to what people are going through and identifying their true pain points. Being able to identify what is truly needed versus just a cosmetic, simple fix.
What I am most proud of is that my clients feel like I listen to them judgement-free and solve the problems they are facing in their homes. Yes, an organizer can come in and sort your clothes into color order, but if there isn’t a system that works for them, then they won’t be as inclined to keep it organized. Learning how they live day to day helps me identify their habits and nuances, which allows me to create a system that will work for them long term. Nothing makes me happier than hearing from my first clients here in the Triangle that they are still using the system we implemented years ago!
I offer home organizing of all spaces in the home, as well as “fresh start” services for settling into new homes. I offer a free consultation, where we will discuss your needs and then I present a customized proposal specifically for your project.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Be your authentic self, and your people will find you. I have been lucky enough to find an incredible community of women-owned small business owners who are the most generous, helpful and badass people I know. Always willing to help or give advice, create pathways for new successes and support each other. They have given me the courage and confidence to continue to expand my business and serve more people and even bigger projects.
