Meet Kennedy Thomas of Durham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kennedy Thomas .

Hi Kennedy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey as a graphic designer when I was about 6 years young. Although I didn’t know where my creative mind would go back then, I would find myself designing MySpace templates in my Grandma’s 2-bedroom house on Barnette avenue in Roxboro, NC. She had a desktop in the corner of her bedroom directly in front of her bed. It wasn’t until 12 years later, at 16, that I realized I could turn my hobby into a career. I started a hair extension brand, where I began to design my content and earned over 6 figures in 10 months. I realized it was my branding and the hard work that helped me curate these sales, and from there, Morpho Graphics has been my first love.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a smooth road?
I look this way, nothing in life comes easy, and when I say nothing, I mean nothing. It doesn’t matter who you are. You will experience bumps in the road. If it was easy, it wasn’t worth it. My biggest struggle thus far has been disciplined.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a graphic designer, and surprisingly I don’t like to refer to myself as a graphic designer because I wear many hats. I like to refer to myself as a brand stylist. With my creative mind and thinking, I take people’s brands and bring them to life. It’s how I’ve turned my dreams into reality, literally! I’ve had many things that I’ve been able to be proud of, but most importantly. The same people I used to watch on TV, idolize on Instagram, and look up to are some of my clients, which I’ll always cherish.

Is something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising that many people don’t know(except my client SidityDes) is that I suffer badly from imposter syndrome. And I often experience a creative block, really bad to the point where it makes it hard to focus on my work /designs).
