Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Ernster.
Hi Kevin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I went on a 9-month deployment to Saudi Arabia (Army Reserves) and decided when I came home that I no longer wanted to work for the company I used to work for. I quit the job and used all my deployment money to start my auto detailing business. I started detailing from the trunk of my Honda Civic. I had family and friends that helped support me. I grew my clientele list and eventually took a detailing course in California to get professionally certified. After that course, I started working on hot rods and exotic vehicles for paint corrections and ceramic coatings. I also got very proficient at taking stains out of fabric seats and carpets. We still do interior detailing as well. I now have a lime green detailing van, and soon I will have a shop for everyone’s detailing needs! Critical Shine is veteran owned and operated and proud to be of Hispanic background!
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been anything but a smooth road, but that’s okay! The struggles were getting my name out to the world, gathering the proper supplies for detailing, and preparing for a detailing van or a shop. To get here, I started detailing for a very low price, it wasn’t enough to cover the cost of living, but I still needed to get my work out there somehow. Another struggle was going up against more established detailing businesses, but that’s where getting professionally trained and certified separated me from about 90% of the competitors in the area. Another big struggle was time. I sacrificed all my free time to focus solely on the business. I stopped doing my hobbies or hanging out with friends for a long time to ensure my business survived! But it has all been worth it.
We’ve been impressed with Critical Shine Auto Detailing, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Critical Shine Auto Detailing is a professional detailing company! We specialize in paint corrections and ceramic coatings. We do interior and exterior details as well! What sets me apart from everyone else is that I have been trained and certified by Renny Doyle (his team of professionals details the Air Force One). I also have been certified by the IDA (international detailing association), which ensures my skill level for anything associated with vehicle detailing is top quality! I am most proud of how we conduct ourselves as a business; integrity and respect are huge for me! We are veteran owned and operated, so we support the troops. I want readers to know that Critical Shine will take good care of their vehicles as if they were one of my own.
