Meet Kim Barnes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Barnes.

Hi Kim, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Kim Barnes and I am the owner of Kreeative Doses and a 4th-year pharmacy student at PCOM-GA. I have always been creative and I have always had a dream of becoming a pharmacist.

One of my reasons for becoming a pharmacist was to be able to educate my family and community on how to live a healthier lifestyle. When the pandemic started, I found myself educating my family and friends more than ever.

So many people had questions about Covid and all the dietary supplements that were circulating in the media. I loved being able to explain things in ways that people could understand and apply it to their lives.

When my pharmacy classes became virtual, I had a lot of free time at home. I decided to combine my creative side with my pharmacy career to birth Kreeative Doses.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Initially, I had to learn how to balance school and running a business.

Sometimes, it was challenging completing a big order that had a tight deadline when I also had exams every Monday. I had to be realistic with myself and my customers by informing them that big orders would require more time. As time went on, I developed a routine to ensure I succeeded in school and my business.

Trademarking my logo was challenging as well. I decided to complete the long and tedious process myself and it took a lot of patience and research. Kreeative Doses became an officially registered mark in April 2021.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Kreeative Doses is a service-based business providing custom apparel, custom home decor, custom event decor, and community education. We strive to provide quality handcrafted doses while educating our community on how to live a healthier lifestyle. We are not just your regular crafting business, our doses are impactful.

We provide periodic “Dose of the Days” on our social media platforms. They are short educational posts on various health topics. We also have community events where we teach on health topics in a Kreeative way! Our first community event, Vagentine’s Day Brunch, is Saturday, February 12th at 12 pm in Knightdale, NC.

We have partnered with a local OB/GYN to educate the community on vaginal health. We will also be eating brunch and painting. Tickets for the event are $45 and can be purchased here: https://vagentinesday.eventbrite.com.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Networking and collaborating with others can open so many doors! I love collaborating with others in the community.

I provide doses to a lot of other businesses in the area, such as t-shirts for their brand/business. I also love to collaborate with other health professionals to help educate our community.

You can support Kreeative Doses by attending one of our future events and by using our services for all your custom needs.
