Meet Kim McRee of Mantle Furniture

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Kim McRee.

Kim McRee

Hi Kim, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was raised by a family of furniture manufacturers. My grandparents started Temple Furniture in 1962 in Maiden, NC. My father and his brother ran the business for many years until their passing in 2011 and 2013. I started at Temple in 1990, right after college.

My brother was also in the business, running our sister company, Parker Southern, since 1992. So, we assumed the leadership roles in 2013. In 2022, we launched Mantle Furniture, a direct-to-consumer brand that sells our Temple-made products online. On a daily basis I oversee Mantle as well as being VP for Temple and Parker Southern.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part, it has been a fairly smooth road.

When the economy was soft in 2008, we struggled a little. We took that time to perfect customizations and we are still known for those today. So, it was definitely a blessing in the storm.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Mantle is our e-commerce brand that sells furniture directly to consumers from our manufacturing facility.

We are able to reach people who buy online without going to a retail store. We specialize in customization by giving you that special size sofa or sectional that you want with very little extra cost since our customers are buying direct.

Mantle Furniture is an amazing 8-way hand-tied quality that you don’t usually see when buying online. We are most proud of the luxury of our brand, how we customize it, and our customer service, which receives rave reviews on Houzz and Reddit.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Our offices in Maiden, NC, have furniture in the lobby so that a buyer can make an appointment with our staff to come try it before you buy it.
