Meet Krista Bartik

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krista Bartik.

Hi Krista, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my schooling at Aveda Institute in Chapel Hill (2017) with the interest of becoming a makeup artist. Going through school and playing around with color, I started to find my passion. All things blonding and lived in color caught my attention and changed my path. I remember telling my mom that I never want to be a stylist working in a salon. That brings me to the salon I’m at that completely changed my views on the hair industry. I am a stylist/educator for Lux Salon Raleigh.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey had some bumps in the road. I was unsure of what I truly wanted when I started my cosmetology training. I thought I wanted to be a makeup artist, but I lead more towards the colorist side. My age was a huge factor in the industry. Clients in my chair felt since I was young, my experience was lacking. What they didn’t realize is my passion made up for my lack of experience.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Hairstylist and Educator at Lux Salon Raleigh that has a passion in Blonding and Dimensional color. I am an Ambassador for Masters of Balayage which is education platform for hairstylists. On my free time, I teach color classes to the newer associates. I feel my drive is what sets me apart from others. I love being behind the chair but I always wanted to do more.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love that Raleigh NC is a melting pot of people from all over. The food options are endless and amazing!! I least like driving downtown, I always end up going the opposite direction on a one way road… oops
