Meet Kristi Pollum of KL Coordination

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristi Pollum.

Kristi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Michigan, as part of a large family. I was the baby of both babies, and being the youngest, I had the privilege of taking part in many family events, like cousin’s weddings, baby showers, and the like while growing up. Every one of these events were a group effort, and so early on I got to see the ins and outs of just what goes into these events, with weddings always being my favorite. These family gatherings taught me hosting skills, and how to think through the logistics of having crowds of 100+ people.

I moved to North Carolina in 2017, right after college, to teach. While teaching, I continued to help run events for our school and for friends, and knew that events were where my heart was truly leading me. In 2020 I worked my first ever wedding professionally, and it was like something inside me clicked. That year, I took the leap from teaching into events, and five years later, here I am, with my own event planning company!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There’s a ton that you learn when owning a business.
Not everything has been smooth, as every entrepreneur will tell you. There’s been a lot of times that I am doing things myself, learning and growing as I go (from marketing and web design, social media, and more – really, just getting your name out there). It’s definitely been a challenge – but each challenge has shaped me to where I am at now, and given me the opportunities to better serve my clients. I absolutely love my clients, and it’s always such an honor getting to tell their stories.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
KL Coordination is a full-service wedding and event planning business based out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. We’re based in the Triangle, but service all of NC and beyond, going wherever our clients will take us. While our main focus is weddings, we also do a range of corporate and social events as well (wedding showers, rehearsal dinners, baby showers, birthdays, etc.).

We specialize in creating events that are truly authentic to our couples, creative in nature, and unforgettable for those that attend. We’re meticulous about logistics, timelines, and vendor coordination, but equally focused on the emotional experience. Ultimately, we want events to feel intentional, personal, and genuinely joyful. Many of our couples say that when working with us, we make things easy – allowing them to relax, have fun, and be fully present and in-the-moment come event day.

What’s next?
For this upcoming year, our plan is to continue to grow by taking on more events and expanding our team! We also plan to head to Wedding MBA for the first time in November.
