Meet Kwesi Holloway of Raleigh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kwesi Holloway.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started skateboarding at the age of 7.
I got to where I am today through hard work , love for the sport, Blood , sweat ,tears and lots of dedication. What inspired me to keep going and reach the level I’m at today is when I was younger many skaters I looked up to never gave me the time of day as far as to even have a genuine conversation with me (a young fan that looked up to them). My goal was to reach a level where kids where inspired and looked up to my as I did to ones before but instead of acting to cool to engage with them I wanted to provide a humble experience and show them that someone they looked up to could still be humble and sit and talk with them just like anyone else. By doing so I hope they learn from that experience and one day provide it for the next up and coming kids and generations

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not . Just like with anything in life there’s going to be ups and downs . Trials and tribulations. Sometimes i would have a bad skate day and want to quit and forget about everything i worked my whole life to earn . When that happens I just sit back re evaluate my situation and keep pushing forward and if I fall always fall forward never backwards .

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a well established and well known skater boarder from Raleigh, North Carolina. I specialize in grinding, big rails with a fluent style . rails that no one else would touch.. I am most proud of how far I have come and my photos and videos featured in one of the most famous skate magazines THRASHER. What sets me apart from others is my fear factor . I skate things most people wouldn’t dare to touch .on a danger scale I skate things anywhere from a 6 all the way to 10 on a danger scale form 1-10 .

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Yes , everyone process is different. Just because you’re not the best today does not mean you can’t work at your craft and possibly be the best tomorrow. Something I wish I knew when I was first starting is patience. Nothing GREAT comes easy and sometimes GREATNESS TAKES TIME
