Today we’d like to introduce you to La Toya Mason
Hi La Toya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was taking away from my mom in the fourth grade and placed in foster care! Both foster care homes I was mistreated. A ward of the state until I was eighteen years old. My mother or father didn’t raise me. Moved to Raleigh in 1999 after graduating from Highschool to attend college. Became a parent at twenty, diagnosed with cervical cancer at twenty three. Later became a single parent at twenty seven, where I struggled financially and emotionally. Fighting to survive I later started a healing process in 2017! I birthed my non profit organization called Crown Me Different! I host annual women’s conferences, (currently on year eight) built a mentor group for young girls and women! Begin to speak as a motivational speaker at events and conferences. I opened my online Boutique Crowned Different Boutique LLC in 2022. Later I wrote my first book Locked Up By SILENCE, A Amazon’s best seller & number one release. Released my second book I survived the fire. Also an Amazon’s best seller. Owner of my own lipgloss business Kissed By La Toya/Ar’Mani Lipgloss!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No the road has been very challenging! But I thank God for allowing me to go through get through and grow through it all. Mentally I couldn’t think suffered with depression and anxiety! It took a whole lot of praying and discipline to renew my mind and keep me on track for greatness.

I’m known for my non profit organization called Crown Me Different! Give me a mic and it’s on, my gift speaks for me! Connecting women and young girls together to network, learn and grow! I specialize in women and young girls who have experienced trauma of any kind. My motto is to inspire empower encourage and uplift! No matter who you are! I am proud of being an OVERCOMER! I have experienced so much through out my almost 44 years of life & overcame it all. What sets me apart from others is my drive to not be anyone’s competition. I’m an open book to the truth. It sets you free. Walking with purpose on purpose I look nothing like I’ve been through and I’m still fighting to survive this thing called life & I am proof it can be done.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Remember why you started in the first place. Give your best at everything you set out to do. Your character will outweigh anything negative said about you! Your gift will make room just for you! I wish I knew at the time I were starting out there would be some good days and some bad ones, however both days I still have to show up!
