Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Peed.
Hi Laura, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I’m originally from South Florida, but a college volleyball scholarship brought me to the state of North Carolina. I instantly fell in love with it here – I can be at the beach and in the mountains all in the same day! After graduating from college, I attended law school with the intention of becoming an attorney, but after sitting in my property law classes my 1L year, I realized my true passion was elsewhere. I then began my real estate career in property management in both residential and commercial real estate. At some point, my fiancé noticed me looking at all the different homes for sale in Raleigh on a daily basis, and suggested I talk to residential agents to gain a better understanding of the profession. I instantly fell in love with the idea of working in the world of residential real estate and began this next phase of my career by partnering with an experienced female realtor that helped shape me into the agent I am today.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Trying to build my residential real estate career in the middle of the pandemic has been anything but smooth! Taking that leap into a fully commission-based career seemed crazy as the world was in such disarray, but so rewarding after you’ve built a strong book of business for yourself. I was an accounting major so I know how to manage money, but I took for granted the peace of mind that comes with receiving a salary with a check you know is coming in every two weeks. I think mentally that was the biggest struggle I had to face, besides all the curve balls real estate throws at you in this extremely hot market. Now I use that lack of a guaranteed check to keep me motivated and striving to become the best that I can be.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a real estate agent with the Chappell team powered by Compass. I specialize in buying and selling residential resale and new construction from land to final product. While I’m based in Raleigh, NC, my area of focus includes the whole Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and their surrounding areas like Cary, Wake Forest, Wendell, and Clayton). I help my clients with every stage of the home buying process – connecting with lenders, finding their dream home, putting in offers and contract negotiations, inspections, and attending closings with clients. I’m also the listing agent for multiple new construction projects. I will meet with potential buyers for these projects regularly at our sales center and am responsible for reporting to the developer from the start of the project until all units are sold. What sets me apart and what I’m most proud of is the genuine connections that I’ve built. There are a lot of great realtors in every market, so the way I differentiate myself is through the strong relationships that I build and maintain, even after each home closes.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Attention. Attention to clients 24/7 and attention to detail. I can’t understate how important I believe it is to be responsive to each client’s questions and needs. Buying or selling a home is a huge, life-changing decision, and it’s important that everyone has an agent that is dedicated to them and always readily accessible. The other factor that separates me from other agents is my passion for real estate. I can’t wait to get to know each client and learn their home likes/dislikes/wants/needs, and then the fun begins getting to research different properties and showing them to clients as we search for their dream home.
