Meet Luke Waite

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Waite.

Hi Luke, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story starts in specialty coffee. I’ve done pretty much everything there is to do on the consuming side of the coffee supply circle. I’ve been a barista, managed multiple cafes, built education programs for multiple roasters, done sales, operations, and consulting.

All the while, I got tired of seeing agencies and creative folks seek to peddle their services without really understanding the industry, how specialty products are sold, and ultimately seeking their own betterment rather than the betterment of the businesses they were working with.

So I started, The Lev Co, a branding & content agency built for specialty CPG brands.

The big goal for us isn’t just to do good work, but to lead by example and to declare that business doesn’t have to be a zero-sum game but rather there is enough to go around and even some to give back. So today, that’s what we seek to do. We like to say that branding and content are the byproducts of this bigger goal of leading by example in the way that we do business.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For us, the biggest struggle has been learning to say no to work that doesn’t align with our values or our goals.

It can be so easy to say, “Yes” when a client is willing to pay you a large sum of money, but if they aren’t aligned with your values or vision you are going to regret it.

That’s been a tough one for us.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Lev Co. is a Branding and Content Agency built for specialty CPG brands… think coffee, wine, cannabis, spirits, cheese, etc.

Some of the services we offer are:
– Branding
– Brand & Marketing Strategy
– Graphic Design & Logo Design
– Packaging Design
– SEO
– Web Design
– Videography
– Lifestyle & Product Photography

There are two things that I am most proud of, as it relates to my brand:

1. The Lev Co as a team is really connected to our vision and they are so focused on seeking the good of our clients vs. turning a buck as fast as they can. Sometimes, this means that we have to say something that is hard for our clients to hear but it’s what their brand needs. This is where trust is built.

2. The clients we work with are pretty stellar folks. I can genuinely say that I’d drink a beer with any one of them.

The thing that sets us apart is that we really aren’t interested in peddling services but rather, we are interested in understanding our client’s brand and helping to draw out the compelling parts of their brand to create a deep connection between their audience and their brand.

Ultimately, we like working with good folks who are doing good work. If that’s you, we’d love to know you, follow your story and work together if there’s a way that we might be able to help your brand.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Such a great question. I define success as, “Have I done the work I set out to do according to my values?” I don’t see success as monetary but rather can I carry my head held high and also put it on my pillow at night and sleep well? If the answer is yes to both of those, I think that I am succeeding.
