Meet Magaly Giraldo of MG Nail Aesthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Magaly Giraldo.

Hi Magaly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Seventeen years ago, I started in the nail industry, but I decided to take a break as a Nail Artist to take care of my kids, and I found people weren’t really after the natural, healthy nails look at the time.

Most of the salons were offering SNS and ACRYLICS!! Really? There are more options to treating a nail than just these methods. Extensions only, just a quick fix. What about natural nails? It was my question all the time, so I decided to return to the nail industry, which was refreshing and a great decision.

To stay true to myself and continue working with products I believed in, without taking shortcuts, doing SNS because that’s what people were after is definitely a significant achievement for me.

Three years later, I took some continuing education and got into the Russian Manicure. I have discovered many beautiful clients desiring a look in which I excel, and I couldn’t be happier. That’s a little insight into my beginnings and my work beliefs.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A lot of challenges, because most of all the clients I used to take care, of weren’t after the natural, healthy nails look at the time. They all wanted fake tips (Acrylic), and all I wanted was to concentrate on Natural Nails.

About The Russian Manicure, a Russian manicure is a technique that uses an electronic file to gently remove the excess skin and dead cuticle around your nail bed. Due to the use of the electronic file, the technique is also sometimes just called an “E-File” manicure.
The electronic file uses fine bits to carefully buff away the excess skin all the way around the nail bed.

In a traditional manicure, this skin is often manually scrubbed away with a much more abrasive file. Even worse, the cuticles are often manually cut off with nippers in a traditional manicure. What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I have always wanted to open my own studio. I’m looking forward to opening my studio by establishing an elite team of Nail Artists. To reach my dream, I know I have to work hard and sacrifice my time, but I know it’s all worth it. I envisage my future studio to be every women’s happy place.
